We will have a Webex meeting Monday and Wednesday @ 8:30. There is nothing to prepare ahead of time. For Monday, it will be a virtual field trip type of meeting -- I sincerely hope we don't have any tech difficulties but apologize in advance if we do.... :(
Have a great rest of your Mother's Day!!! :)
Aloha Wai'alae PK,
I have linked below the upcoming week's (week 5) overview and newsletter.
05_PK Distance Learning Newsletter
Please note that for this upcoming week only, we will do the webex live meetings Wednesday and Friday. I moved Monday to Friday so that we could get together to celebrate on May Day. I hope that that is ok with you folk and apologize for not keeping it as consistent as I would have liked. I hope that getting together to have a mini-celebration on May Day makes it worth it, though! :)
So for easy reference (for this upcoming week only):
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - Pre-recorded morning message with Fundations letter Yy.
Wednesday - Webex live @ 8:30 (color scavenger hunt - nothing to prepare ahead of time).
Friday - Webex live @ 8:30. Come dressed in aloha attire/ with a flower or lei, and ready to dance the hula to "May Day is Lei Day". Don't worry if your child doesn't know it -- we will have Kumu Kaleihomai's video playing and will dance along to that!
As always, I will send out daily plans Monday (for Monday/ Tuesday), Wednesday (Wednesday & Thursday), and Friday. I will also update the weekly overview as I complete each link with pre-recorded videos and lesson plans. Everything should be hyperlinked as it becomes available, including the days listed at the top.
Aloha
Aloha PK families,
As you may know, all Hawai'i Public DOE and Charter schools are moving to a distance learning format until at least April 30th. It is so scary and sad to think that our classroom community will not see each other for so long (and possibly longer!)
However, we have been busy collaborating and coming up with our preschool-style distance learning plan. I have attached a (long) newsletter that goes over the goals, format and important media we will be using, as well as digital citizenship guidelines. It is long but please look it over carefully.
Essentially, though, we will be providing some "enrichment activities, and enrichment learning activities". They are optional and ungraded. However, I hope they will be a fun way for us to reconnect as a group as well as support your child and family at home. We especially hope that this is a way for our children to reconnect and have a sense of routine and community.
Please email me with your questions, thoughts, concerns, etc. I regularly checking email M-F 8-3. If you need, I can also host a short video chat at a scheduled time (sort of like office hours). As we go through this journey together, please also email me if any links or resources are not working for you.
Before we jump into our first week of distance learning next week, I will send a few emails today and tomorrow. They will include: A guide to using Zoom, an invite to join Epic, an email to join our private facebook group, and our first week's lesson plan.
