Summer distance learning activities are available for all students, regardless of if they are enrolled in live summer school or not. Click to access!
Greetings Families,
As usual, I hope all is well with you and your families. This past week we learned that we will be continuing our distance learning format for the remainder of the year. Obviously this is extremely unfortunate but I encourage all of us to make the best of this experience and remain positive.
Attached is this week's newsletter. We are continuing with the video lessons and enrichment activities. We have also added some small group math and reading sessions. These sessions are for students who want/need extra help.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Greetings Families,
First off, thank you all for your continued support and effort during this time. I hope you are all staying healthy and making the best of this time.
There are some changes to the focus of our virtual setting. We now have the greenlight to make available new curriculum content. We've been working for the past two weeks to format it in a way that is developmentally appropriate for the students. Our plan is detailed in the attached newsletter and pdf document, as well as a video I put together narrating the pdf, that breaks down the change. Feel free to watch the video for a more detailed explanation, or read the newsletter/pdf. I will be explaining the new format to the students tomorrow (Monday) during our online meeting. Although we are teaching new content, we are still unable to mandate student participation and none of this will be used for grading.
As with everything, this is a work in progress as we will be reflecting and probably tweaking our methods as we move through the weeks.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Greetings A4 Families,
I hope all is well and everyone is keeping healthy! We have one week in the books! There is no doubt that I have learned a lot and have already made some improvements to our new virtual classroom. It's been nice seeing the kids and interacting with them via zoom. Attached to this email is our weekly newsletter, just keeping you in the loop with what's going on.
In our zoom meetings, I've been encouraging students to be creative with the enrichment activities and allow themselves to take ownership of the project(s). If students have ideas or passions of a project or activity that is not posted, they most certainly can pursue it.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Greetings A4 Families,
I hope this message finds you well and healthy. The teachers have been meeting over the past week to discuss and design plans for providing enrichment activities to students during this time. In this email I will outline what the plan is going forward and the different components of our new “virtual school”.
Online Enrichment
These activities are optional and students are not obligated to complete or participate in activities. Nothing will be graded towards progress reports. However, these activities will be a good way for students to stay engaged and connect with their classmates and teachers as much as possible during these uncertain times.
Enrichment activities will be engaging activities that students can do independently or with a parent. Further instructions for students will be posted on google classroom on Monday 3/30. Please have students check google classroom on Monday.
Please see the attachments on this email for further parent information.
Components of Online Enrichment
There are four components to our online enrichment classroom:
Enrichment activities - Each week there will be five activities presented to students. Students will have access to a google slide document where all activities are located. Students can choose which activities they would like to do and will have access to previous activities as well. Each activity has instructions of how to "submit" their work. Special Subjects also has activities planned for students to participate in.
Office hours - I will have office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am- 10:00am. During this time I will be able to immediately respond to emails. You are welcomed to send emails at any time, but if you need an immediate response, these times would be best. If you and your child would like to schedule a video chat meeting, just let me know and we can make it happen.
Online recess - Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am-9:30am I will open a Zoom or Google Meet video chat for students to socialize face to face. Students are welcome to join and interact with their peers. Regular classroom norms will apply to this time and I will also be on the chat to supervise. Please fill out the Video Chat Permission Form before allowing your child to participate.
Weekly newsletters - Every week grade 5 will send out a newsletter detailing the week and any updates.
Students are still able to access other resources for online activities - see email sent on 3/19.
Your family's health and safety is a priority during this time. We understand that this is a period of adjustment for everyone and recognize the need for flexibility and understanding. Please know that we are also navigating new territory in implementing online enrichment activities and we will be learning together!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
