Good Morning C9 Families,
As always, I hope that this letter finds everyone safe and healthy. I just wanted to check in, and also to remind everyone to please let me know if you have questions regarding any of the enrichment learning activities that have been posted in our C9 Seesaw account, or if you have any specific questions about your child's learning.
I would also welcome any requests for assignments/activities that you feel would be of high interest/ helpful for C9 students, and I will do my best to find/create them to be posted in our Seesaw classroom.
As we come to the end of week 3 of online enrichment learning, I want to again reiterate that the activities posted in the C9 Seesaw classroom remain optional, and are designed to keep students engaged during this challenging time. I continue to recommend that students access their iReady (reading and math) accounts as well as their Epic and KidsA-Z online libraries.
Finally, I will continue to post between 3-5 activities daily and respond to student posts. Inevitably, this will lead to a large number of different kinds of choices for students to access and complete. One suggestion I have (if your schedule allows) is on days your child is participating in the Seesaw classroom, to pre-select (with your child) some of the activities that they plan to work on and complete. This can help to provide a more focused plan/ purpose during their Seesaw time. You child would also be able to check back with you to share what they had completed/ submitted later in the day.
I hope everyone has a restful weekend. Thank you again for your time, patience, and continued support of your child's learning!
Sincerely,
Josh Chang
Good morning C9 students and families,
I hope all of you are having a good week! I just wanted to check in and say hi, and that I have been excited to see all of the activities you have been posting for me to see. I also wanted to remind everyone to try your best not to be too stressed out during this challenging time. Here are some reminders about what you should TRY to work on during the day at times that work best for your family's schedule. Please remember that these are just suggestions, and that we all need to be flexible, patient, and understanding.
1. iReady reading/math (20-30 minutes for reading and 20-30 minutes for math)
2. kidsA-Z reading (20-30 minutes- or more if you would like!)- On some days, you should read the stories from your leveled library independently, and sometimes, you can have the stories read out loud to you. You can also go on EPIC reading if your mom or dad says it's okay.
3. Independent writing- I would love to hear stories from you about what you have been doing, and how you are feeling! You can write on paper, take a picture and send it to me, or if you want to practice typing your stories, that would be great too!
4. Seesaw activities- I have been trying to put 4-5 new activities into our Seesaw classroom each day. Please DO NOT feel like you have to do every single one. There are all kinds of different activities. You might be able to do some of them by yourself, and you might need some help from someone with others. Do your best and have fun!
Have a great rest of the week! Stay safe and healthy, and please let me know if you have any questions or need help with any of the activities. I miss you all!
From,
Mr. Chang
Aloha C9 Families,
I hope this message finds everyone healthy and safe. We met as a faculty on March 23, 2020 to discuss the plans for learning as we move forward. Mr. Constantinou has emailed some updates, and please continue to monitor for additional information as it becomes available.
For now, we will be providing online enrichment for children. We understand that not everyone has access to devices or internet service, and these activities are optional and not required.
Suggested times for iReady reading and math support are approximately 25-30 minutes for each content area. Students should continue to read independently or with your support, for approximately 20-30 minutes daily.
Please keep a heads-up for a letter from your child’s Special Subjects teachers. I will be sending shortly (either this afternoon or tomorrow morning). Thank you very much for your continued patience and support!

A Message from our Counselors:
Aloha from the Waialae Counselors As the Counselors for Waialae Elementary we want to send out our warmest Alohas to your family. This is a challenging time, however with love, patience and understanding, this can also be a great time for you to bond closer together as families.
With new information regarding the COVID-19 virus coming in at such a rapid, overwhelming pace, we understand that everyone has been affected in one way or another. As we forge forward, and try to adjust our schedules and domestic dynamics within our households, please slow down, take some deep breaths, and enjoy having your loved ones around you.
Keeping your children and yourselves happy and safe is our primary priority. We would like to suggest that you keep things basic and simple. Develop simple routines and responsibilities at home for everyone in your household, as you see fit for your family. Make sure you are eating healthy, staying hydrated, getting enough rest, and if possible, getting some daily exercise.
There are an abundance of online resources that are available, however please refrain from becoming overwhelmed with too much information (TMI), and know and trust that you know what's best for your family.
In the coming days and/or weeks, we will be keeping in touch with you and share some insights and information that you may find useful for your families.
Take care, be safe, and be healthy,
Michael Hervey, School Counselor (Grades 2,4,5)
Mark Guillermo, School Counselor (Grades K,1,3
Please stay safe and well during this time.
Thank you very much! Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.
