Aloha C8 families,
I hope you had a great three day weekend! Here are the news and announcements for this week:
1. Family Feedback Survey: To help plan for future activities, the second grade teachers have created a Family Feedback Survey for you to give us some feedback on how online enrichment is going for you! Please fill out the Family Feedback Survey by Friday, April 17.
2. Weekly Choice Board: To help give your child more choice with the learning enrichment activities Ms. Kira and I have created a Choice Board. These activities will now be on a Choice Board that will include a variety of things your child can do to keep active, explore their passions, and help them to keep some of their school routines! The choice board is attached to this email, and will also be sent to your child through Seesaw.
Directions to get started:
1. Log in to your seesaw Home Learning Account
2. Click on the Activities tab to view the choice board for this week's enrichment activities.
3. You may choose a few activities to do each day. You can view the choice board on seesaw, or if you have access to a printer, you may print out a hard copy for yourself.
4. As you complete each activity take a picture of your work/creations, or ask a family member to take a picture of you doing any of the activities.
5. Post 1 picture a day to seesaw. Don't forget to click on the record button to record an explanation or caption of what you did!
6. At the end of the week, take a picture of your choice board and upload it to your seesaw account. If you didn't print out the choice board, use seesaw to highlight the activities you've completed on the choice board.
3. Implementing Schedules and Routines: Attached are two examples of sample schedules. The sample schedules include the same activities as the choice board.
4. Aloha Friday Meeting: For our Aloha Friday morning meeting this week, our theme will be Talent Show! Please help your child choose a talent that he/she is interested in sharing. For example, playing an instrument, juggling a ball, whitling, etc. Have your child practice before our meeting on Friday. Please keep it under one minute.
5. Switching to GoogleMeets: We are switching to GoogleMeets this week. The links are provided under "upcoming meetings". Because I scheduled the meetings as recurring events, there are only two links, one for 10:30 Tue.-Fri. and the other for 12:30 Tue.-Fri. This will help Ms. Kira and I to add activities to seesaw and plan on Mondays. I appreciate your understanding!
Upcoming Meetings:
C8 Morning Meetings @ 10:30 Tue.-Fri.
C8 Afternoon Meetings @ 12:30 Tue.-Fr.
Thank you,
Ms. Brink
Hi C8 families,
Here are the news and announcements for this week:
1. Zoom Meetings and Rules- This week my focus is consistency! I will be hosting 2 Zoom meetings per day, at 10:30 and 12:30. You can choose the time that works best for you (you Do Not need to choose the same time each day). I did this to give your child an opportunity to interact with different peers throughout the week, and to give you some flexibility in your schedule.
Last Friday I went over 8 expectations for using Zoom with your child. Please review the rules (click on the attachment), and help to reinforce them at home.
Starting from the week of April 13, 2020, we will only use Google Meets or Webex for our live meetings. This is a schoolwide decision. We will continue to use Zoom for the remainder of this week, and transition to Google Meets or Webex next week, Monday. More info to come...
2. Aloha Thursday Meeting- Good Friday Holiday is this Friday, so we will have our Aloha Meeting on Thursday. Our theme is Show and Tell! Please help your child choose an item before Thursday, Apr. 9. Some good ideas include: arts and crafts, projects, pictures, favorite toy or collectible. Please make sure the item your child chooses is appropriate, and I encourage your child to practice what he/she wants to say beforehand :)
3. Implementing Schedules and Daily Routines- If you are interested in implementing daily schedules and routines with your child, please let me know and I will email some resources and examples to those of you who are interested or want to try it out.
4. Counselor Newsletter- Our school counselors, Mr. Hervey and Mr. G are providing activities and resources to go with their Theme of the Week in their weekly newsletters to you. This week's theme is Daily Goals and Intentions! Please see the attachment.

Monday, March 30
Aloha C8 families,
Here are the news and announcements for this week:
1. Google Form: Please click on the google form link, and fill out the short survey. I plan to start hosting live video chat meetings with students to help us all stay connected. The meetings are optional, will occur daily M-F, and will run about 10-30 minutes. I will be emailing you a link to the first zoom meeting so that you can help your child join. After the first meeting, I will be sending the link via seesaw. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
I will set time aside during the first zoom meeting to show students how to use seesaw:)
2. Seesaw: If you are having any trouble accessing seesaw, please let me know. I have emailed all families their child's Home Learning Code via seesaw. If you did not receive an email with your child's Home Learning Code, let me know and I will resend it.
3. Learning Commons Newsletter: Mrs. Choy has created a virtual learning commons. Attached is a letter to families containing the link to enter the virtual learning commons. The next activity I will be posting in Seesaw will be taking a tour through the learning commons and watching 2 videos about digital citizenship!
Thank you,
Ms. Brink
Aloha C8 families -
I hope this message finds everyone healthy and safe.We met as a faculty on March 23, 2020 to discuss the plans for learning as we move forward. Mr. Constantinou has emailed some updates, and please continue to monitor for additional information as it becomes available.
For now, we will be providing online enrichment for children. We understand that not everyone has access to devices or internet service, so these activities are optional and not required. Please do what works best for your family at this time.
In order to maintain the safety of our keiki, and to prevent students from spending time surfing the web, Ms. Kira and I will be using Seesaw and Zoom to connect with students online. As I am learning to navigate Seesaw and Zoom, please be patient with me. This is a learning curve for all of us :)
The first step is getting your child started on Seesaw! I recommend that you support your child with setting up their C8 Seesaw account and help your child practice logging in and out 3-5 times before using.
Steps:
1. Go to https://web.seesaw.me on a computer. Or install the Seesaw Class iOS or Android app.
2. Tap “I’m a Student”.
3. Scan or type in your Home Learning code. (I will be sending you your child’s Home Learning Code individually)
4. Post to your journal (I’ve posted 5 getting started activities for you to work on at your own pace)
5. Remember, this code is like a password. Keep it safe!
Additional Online Resources for Families:
What is Seesaw? Intro for Families
Please be on the lookout for my Sunday weekly email with updates. I’ve attached a file with links to additional resources that will be available to your child. ***Please see important attached letters from the Special Subjects Teachers (w/a fun BINGO game also!!), Counselors and the Multilingual Language Learner Team.
Please stay safe and well during this time
Thank you for your time! Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Katie Brink
