Support Southside Baseball and join the Mayo Spartans and Rochester Redhawks in imparting life lessons through the wonderful game of baseball. This program is a 501(c)(3) organization and thrives on your generous support.
The Mayo Spartan and Rochester Redhawks Baseball programs are in partnership with “Team Charlie,” setting up a foundation that gives back to baseball players and families through a charitable 501c3. The funds raised for “Team Charlie” will go towards an annual scholarship, a beacon of hope for Mayo Baseball players who best represent Charlie Lonergan’s mission and impact to serve others. Some of the proceeds will also be used to build a team locker room in Charlie's name called “Charlie’s Place” and other charitable causes surrounding baseball and its impact.
Charlie Lonergan was a former Mayo graduate who had a massive passion for serving others. He was a former Mayo Spartan baseball player who later gave back as a coach and teacher. In 2016, Charlie was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, but his quest to still make an impact had him beating the odds to fight the disease for eight years. During that time, Charlie didn't sit idle; he raised money by participating in races such as Grandma’s and the Boston Marathon. He did these to fundraise for brain cancer research, including Brains Together for a Cure and the National Brain Tumor Society.
On January 27th, 2024, Charlie passed away at the age of 41. To remember his legacy, the “Team Charlie” mission will have various fundraising events during the year to help raise funds that give back to the Southside Baseball community and causes around helping people who have been affected by cancer.
Any of your donations are tax-deductible as we are a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
The Rochester Redhawks and Mayo Spartans Baseball programs carry a proud tradition of excellence, built by generations of dedicated players, coaches, and families. Together, they form the heart of what we proudly call Southside Baseball — a community committed to growing the game and shaping young athletes into not only better players but better people.
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, every dollar raised goes directly back into the program. Your support helps reduce costs and sustain the experience for our athletes by funding critical needs like:
⚾ Field improvements
⚾ Equipment upgrades
⚾ Uniforms and training gear
⚾ Program development initiatives
With your generosity, we can continue to build on the legacy of Southside Baseball and ensure future generations have the opportunity to play, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for being part of our team!
