Trizooka is straightforward when it comes to specials. It's an enormous bazooka that can fire 3 shots. To use it successfully, aim at an area where the most people are, and kill as many as possible from a far distance. Trizooka can also be used for ink coverage, but isn't amazing at it.

Big bubbler is a big bubble-shaped-shield that protects you from getting hit outside of it. The more your opponent shoots at it the less time it lasts and the more it shrinks. Shoot the top for more damage to the shield. It has a built in squid beakon to super jump to which is nice. The down side to this special is that opponents can simply walk in of swim in and shoot you so be carefull. This special is amazing on tower control as you can set it up on the tower for great protection.

Zipcaster is a fun special to use and makes you feel like a god. Using it turns you into a squid/octopus superhero thing, with really stretchy arms. As you use it, you can stick your arm to a nearby wall zip to it, and stick to the wall. This special can be used for anything, covering turf, killing, escaping death, or helping your teammates; This special is very practical for mixups as well, to then discombobulate the enemy. Using this special to get kills is its main intention, so make sure to zip up to them and kill them.

Tenta missiles are very good and optimal for a team. Press down on the right stick to grant yourself two giant missile launchers. This special will show you where each opponent is. To fire, simply aim at one or multiple opponents to send bottle-shaped-missiles right at them. This special is straight forward but very effective and applies pressure to the opposing team.

Ink Storm is anti-climactic for a special. When you throw it, a Giant ink cloud appears and rains a lot of ink onto the ground. But, Ink Storm can only cover turf. It's rare if you get a kill with it, and is usually dumb luck. All you can really do with it is throw it in their base and let them deal with it.

Booyah bomb is straightforward. You start to levitate off the ground while wearing tons of armor so you don't get shot down. The special prompts you and your whole team to spam down on the D-pad, which makes everyone signal "booyah." Once you've done this enough, you can throw the small ball in your hand to make a huge circular explosion. This weapon is good at both killing and decent turf covering. It's also good in zones and tower control.
-Ryan
Wave breaker is trash, and is only good at tracking. Using it throws out a machine, which will have a ball that bounces 3 times, each time sending a wave on the ground to pass by. If an enemy is hit by this wave, then they will take damage, and will also expose their location to you and your team. Use this to get easier kills, and make sure the enemy team is in a bad position with it.

Ink vac is terrible. its just horrible. Press the special button to wield a giant vacuum kinda like from ghostbusters. If anyone shoots ink at you, the vacuum will suck it up. Either suck up enough ink or let the time run out to now be able to shoot a giant ball out of the vacuum that travels slow in mid air but has a huge blast radius and power. The down side to this is that you are very vulnerable from behind and while you are able to shoot out the ball but other than that, its very solid. There's also something people like to call "Zones Cheese" which means that the ink vac explosion can cover the entire zone (in splat zones) in one shot.

Killer Wail is great at stressing out the team, and makes them do acrobatics instead of playing splatoon when used. Using it causes 6 lasers to surround you, and targets any people that you are staring at. This special has infinite range, and goes through walls. To use it successfully, try to combo off of it to get multiple kills. This special cannot cover turf at all, so don't try to use it that way.

Inkjet is one of the most high risk, high reward specials in the game. As soon as you use it, you fly up with a jet pack that keeps you in the air with what behaves as a rocket launcher in your hands. Fire this to potentially one hit (or 2 hit) any opponent below. Press b to gain a slight height boost. Then, you will go flying back to where you started the special and possibly killed by someone camping that position. The duration of this special is about 10 seconds. This special can be very effective but very hard to learn or not get sniped in mid air.
-Ryan
Ultra Stamp is fun, but not good. Using it pulls out a huge hammer in which you can hold ZR to start quickly slamming the hammer into the ground, which makes you go forward at intense speeds. If you want to, you can throw the hammer like a bomb using R, or you can do a quick midair hit by jumping and pressing ZR once. Use this special if enemies are all in one spot to safely clear them all out of the way and have the advantage. Also, always make sure to throw it the instant you are done using it.

Crab tank is very good compared to other specials. Press the special button to hop in a big crab and be met with 3 options. First, you can simply hold down ZR to fire at a long range and rapid fire that speeds up the longer you shoot. The second option is a much slower shooting mode. The the other shooting mode is way slower but explodes when it lands having a blast radius and high damage, kinda like explosher. The third option is basically a panic button, Hold ZL to turn into a ball and roll away. The down side to this special is that someone can walk behind you and shoot you.
-Ryan
Reefslider is fun to use, but isn't actually that good. When you use this special, you hop onto an inflatable shark and slide across the floor, before reaching the climax of the slide and explode. If you would like, you can stop it early by pressing ZR. Reefslider is good at covering turf and also as an emergency burst option. This is great on weapons with easy disadvantages, but Nintendo is dumb and gave it to zero splatlings and chargers for no reason at all.

Triple Inkstrike is a really good special that excels at blocking areas and protecting people. Using it causes you to equip a backpack, and pressing R allows you to throw an inkstrike, which you can do three times. Once the inkstrike touches the ground, it will cause a cylindrical vertical explosion and do massive damage.
-Max
Tacticooler may seem useless, but it's actually amazing. When used, you throw down a huge cooler with sodas in it. If any of you go near it, you will take a soda, and it will give you Swim Speed Up, Run Speed Up, Intensify Action, Quick Super Jump, Quick Respawn, Special Saver, and Ink Resistance Up. Use this when you are going to do a push, and the results are insane.
-Max
Super chump is kinda garbage. When you use it, a machine fires out multiple balloons that land on the ground, and then explode. Nintendo thought you could use it to hide super jumps, but it never works. Instead, use it on a spot where your team has a disadvantage, or use it in an are where your team wants to go. If not, throw it in their base because why not.
-Max
Using Kraken Royale causes you to transform into a giant Kraken, allowing you to have very swift movement and two forms of attacks. Jumping causes you to spin in a spire of ink, damaging nearby people. The other one is done when you hold ZR, and then let go. This attack makes you charge in place, and then zoom forward with a powerful strike. Kraken is solid at taking down enemies or escaping bad situations due to its invincibility.
-Max
Triple Splashdown is pretty simple, and using it makes you jump up into the air with two ink fists following you, and then punching the ground with full force. This causes 3 huge explosions, each indicated by a circle shortly before. You can shoot down all three threats in this special though, and only gives you specific frames of invincibility.
-Max
Splattercolor Screen is a neat special that you have to throw to activate. Once done, it causes a huge, inky screen appears and slowly moves forward. Getting hit by this causes you to take 40 damage, and also has a unique blinding effect that desaturates all colors around you. This special can be easy to predict and move around, making it one of the worst specials in Splatoon.
