Md Mahfuzur Rahman

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech, specializing in advanced wireless communications and networking. My research focuses on 5G/6G wireless systems, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), Open RAN, AI/ML-assisted network optimization, and digital twins. My research interests also include lunar and cislunar communications and 5G/NTN-enabled robotic communication and control.

I bring more than 15 years of industry experience in wireless communications, RF engineering, and cellular network deployment and optimization. My work connects theoretical modeling and simulation with experimental wireless testbeds and practical cellular systems. As the founder of Albatross LLC and principal investigator of the NASA-funded LunaNet-RoboLink SBIR Phase I project, I am extending this experience to communication technologies supporting lunar robotic operations.
