Environmental Security and Justice Through World-class EO Data and Research

Global communities are adversely impacted by protracted biogeophysical change and extreme weather and climate events. In response, these communities must consider a continuum of potential adaptation strategies. Adaptation decision-making requires an enhanced understanding of physical and environmental hazards, future exposure to hazards, social perceptions of risk, and an understanding of the legal environment that facilitates or obstructs adaptation strategies.

EOI Lab's long-range science vision is to engage community residents, local governing entities, and a diverse group of investigators. EOI Lab's scientists develop cutting-edge observation and models of hazards and risks that are comprehensive, integrative, verified, predictive, calibrated and validated. The EOI Lab aims to create scientific innovations that improve the predictability of the hazards, exposures, and risks to the environment, infrastructure, economy, and people. EOI Lab also broadens participation in STEM fields by developing strategic partnerships and supporting the involvement of underrepresented and diverse groups.
