September 25 - 29, 2023

Accelerated Math:

This week we worked on integer rules. We took a quiz on Thursday and grades have been updated on Infinite Campus. Students also practiced plotting rational number on a coordinate plane. 

6 Math: 

This week we started Topic 2, rational and integers. Students defined integers, opposites, rational numbers, and absolute value. We will have a quiz on Tuesday, October 3.  

Reading

In Reading, students have been practicing summarizing skills with both fiction and nonfiction passages.

Writing

In Writing, students are progressing through the parts of speech with Verbs this week.  Quiz retakes will be available next week.

This week we learned about prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells as we prepare to do our first big lab - collecting bacteria samples! We finished the week with our first Science Skill Friday.

We spent this week learning about the Five Themes of Geography and began working on a project about neighborhoods.  We are building a neighborhood in Minecraft where students must build a structure that satisfies all five themes of geography.

This week we focused on visible learning. We used small groups and data charts to analyze the impact that humans have on geography in various settings.
