Accelerated Math & 6 Math
Accelerated Math:
This week students started Topic 2 on Integers and Rational numbers. They built up their understanding of real numbers and took a quiz over it on Friday. Scores are updated in Infinite Campus.
6 Math:
This week students were dividing fractions! We are quickly coming to the end of the unit. They will have a test over Topic 1 on Thursday (9/21). Students will receive a review the day before with questions that are similar to those on the test.
ELA
Reading
In Reading this week, students have been discussing conflic tin fictional stories and continuing their work in vocabulary practice.
Writing
In Writing, students have begun our unit of the parts of speech and are focusing on Nouns. Test retakes will be Monday.
Science
This week we learned more living and nonliving characteristics. We defined new vocabulary terms that we will be quizzed on this coming Tuesday. Please be sure to shut down and charge computers every night.

Geography
In World Geography we continued examining the world through the lens of the 5 Themes of Geography. We also played a dice game where students found various locations from all over the globe. Finally, we began a torn world map project after creating our own rubric from scratch. Students will create their map and self assess until the final product is finished.
Geography
We finished our study of 9/11 with a pensive flag-raising on Monday morning. We are shifting gears into learning about the 5 themes of geography.
Health & PE
In Health students are identifying the three sides of health and how to maintain each side. Students also started working on a Healthy Living Poster Contest for the St. Louis County Health Department.
In PE students are "Walking with a Purpose" at least one day a week and recording their lap walking times around the track. Students are also participating in various fitness games and activities.
