Accelerated Math:
This week we have tested Topic 4 over equations and inequalities. Grades will be updated in Infinite Campus. Next week students will use our final time to take Diagnostic 2 using the I-Ready assessment.
6 Math:
This week we continued to work on one-step equations. They had a quiz on Friday and grades will be updated in Infinite Campus. Next week students will use our final time to take Diagnostic 2 using the I-Ready assessment.
ELA
Reading
In Reading, students have multiple summative assessments that will need to be completed by the end of the 2nd quarter. This week in class they took their final Red-Hot Root Words vocabulary test. Next week, students will take their Figurative Language post test. Lastly, students need to make sure they complete their reading One-Pager which summarizes a book that they read independently.
Writing
In Writing, students are progressing through the research phase of their nonfiction research paper project. The topics students could choose from were nonfiction disasters throughout history. The final for this class with be students taking their 2nd iReady diagnostic test to measure growth from test 1.
Science
This week in science we started unit 2 - genetics. We had information overload so we could complete a geno/phenotype activity on Friday. After break we will slow it down and reteach all concepts learned this week. Please check for an email from me regarding the science final.

Geography
We have spent time this week learning about architecture around the world. Specifically, how does the architecture of a place help us understand the people who live there? We have examined Dubai, Angor Wat, Washington DC, India, South America, and Mexico.
Geography
We have just completed our unit on volcanoes and are beginning to learn about the Great Lakes. This is all in an effort to gain understanding of the greater geography of the USA.
Health & PE
In Health, students played review games to practice the information we have covered through first semester.
In PE students completed fitness testing for 2nd Quarter.
