Accelerated Math & 6 Math
Accelerated Math:
This week we practiced simplifying algebraic expressions. Students were using the distributive property and combing like terms. We will have a test over Topic 3 on Tuesday November 14th.
6 Math:
This week we practiced simplifying numeric expressions. We had a quiz on Wednesday, grades have been posted on Infinite Campus. We also will start algebraic expressions.
ELA
Reading
In Reading, students are practicing writing Claim, Premise, Evidence, and Reasoning. We are finishing the week with debates.
Writing
In Writing, students began their nonfiction unit with a mind blowing story about Phineas Gage. We studied the human brain and how it functions with its different parts.
Science
This week we learned about the nervous system - specifically motor and sensory neurons. Students got to create their own experiments and test students and teachers. Next week we will continue learning about organ systems.

Geography
We have finished our mini-unit on major cities, countries and landforms. Students demonstrated their knowledge through a major landform project. Next we are moving on to learning the regions and states in the US and applying what we already know about major cities and landforms to these states and their geographical regions.
Geography
We are learning about the regions of the USA with major waterways, the transcontinental railroad, mountain ranges, and other land features.
Health & PE
In Health, students reviewed how to write SMART Goals.
In PE, students ran the mile for time and played various fitness games.
