Accelerated Math:

This week we took a quiz over powers, GCF, LCM, and order of operations. Grades are updated for 2nd quarter. We will continue our unit with algebraic expressions the rest of the week. 

6 Math: 

This week we practiced prime factorization and finding GCF and LCM. 

Reading

In Reading, we have a very important assignment due called a One Pager. Students need to have read a book and create a one page document loaded with quotes, summaries, pics, etc., from their book. All instructions are on their class page on Google Classroom. It is worth 50 summative points to start the 2nd quarter.

Writing

In Writing, students are continuing their large Multimedia Writing Project. The students chose a topic, then they need to create a 2-page (minimum) fictional story to go along with their topic. Also, they need to create any two projects to expand on their topic as well. All instructions are on their class page on Google Classroom. It is worth 65 total summative points to start the 2nd quarter (45 - story, 10 - each project).

It was great seeing everyone who came to parent teacher conferences. This week we diagnosed our first patient with a torn Achilles tendon. We dissected chicken wings to see how muscles, bones, joints, and tendons work together. We will wrap up muscles and bones next week before getting our next patient.

We discussed countries, landforms and erosion in class this week.  We also talked about major and minor and how when we add those to countries, cities, landforms, and other geographic feature it changes their meaning.   We also used AI to guide our discussions and create top 10 lists which students tried to predict and enhance our learning.

We are wrapping up our Minecraft community project this week. Next we will be focusing on the US states and regions.

Please continue to have your child charge their computer nightly.

In Health, students continue to work on SMART Goal Setting.

In PE, students finished fitness testing and will set Fitness SMART Goals next week.
