On Monday, December 8, all K–3 Jr. Patriots will take their Middle-of-the-Year DIBELS assessment! This is a big moment for our students to show how much they’ve grown! DIBELS is a short, one-on-one reading check that helps us see how your child is growing as a reader. It’s quick, encouraging, and gives us valuable information to guide instruction.
We want every child to feel confident and ready to shine! 🌟
Here are a few simple ways families can help set them up for success:
Get a good night’s sleep the night before
Eat a healthy breakfast to fuel their brain
Arrive on time so they can start the day calm and prepared
Encourage them with a positive message on the way to school

Please note: These are CPE cold weather days, not the district cold weather days. On these days, students should not be wearing jeans or regular clothing. It is only uniform pants, CPE joggers, or leggings under their uniform shorts or skirts on a CPE cold weather day. Thank you for helping us maintain consistency and expectations!
To celebrate our SPS score, all students will have Kona ice & an extra recess of December 12!
🌟 Shining Stars Celebrations! 🌟
We’re thrilled to launch a new event at Cecil Picard to honor our Star Students each month who consistently demonstrate integrity, resilience, respect, and responsibility. Join us in celebrating their hard work and positive impact! Please note, this once a month celebration will be replacing our STAR student breakfast.
Attendance Matters—Every Day & On Time!
Being at school and on time each day helps our Jr. Patriots start strong and stay on track with their learning. Morning routines and first lessons set the tone for the day, and every minute counts. We understand that sometimes children may be too sick to attend, and we want them to stay home to rest and recover when that happens. Otherwise, we encourage all students to be present and ready to learn each day. Thank you for helping your child build strong habits and make the most of every school day!
Ms. Emily’s kindergarten class earned their 40 chain link reward and celebrated with a fun Cozy Toes Day!
Wow! The CPE 4-H Club collected a total of 1,364 pounds of food this week! A huge thank-you to everyone who donated and made this incredible effort possible!
We’d like to celebrate the incredible effort, growth, and positivity shown by our November Star Students!
Each of these students has stood out through their hard work, dedication, and outstanding attitude—both in and out of the classroom.

CPE PBIS Information
At CPE, we’re committed to reducing office referrals by embracing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). PBIS sets clear expectations, reinforces positive behavior, and provides consistent support to help students make great choices. By recognizing and rewarding positive actions, we’re building a respectful, productive, and fun school community.
Grading Period Celebrations
Celebrations take place at the end of every grading period. Students who go the entire grading period without any major office referrals get to participate in these events. Students start fresh for every grading period event.

Cool Cash Canteen
The Cool Cash Canteen will be on the last Friday of every month unless communicated otherwise. Students will have the option to purchase one snack using their cool cash.

School Store
Each week, all grade levels have the opportunity to stop at the school store in the morning to purchase items with their cool cash on their designated grade level day.
CPE Handbook, Pupil Progression, VPSB Handbook, Beginning of the year Paperwork
Student handbooks will be available to view online. There is also a link below for your reference. Acknowledgement form booklets will be sent home on the first day of school. Please make every effort to sign all forms in the booklet and send them back with your child the next day. If you were not able to attend Meet and Greet these will be sent home on the first day of school with acknowledgement form booklet. It is extremely important that we receive this paperwork completed as soon as possible.
