Play Project Information - 2022

Please see the details and links below regarding the Play Project for second quarter:

Is there a cost?

Yes! Each student should pay the $15 project fee in the Titan Family Portal. This fee provides each class with a budget for students to order the supplies they need to make their production group's vision a reality! Please pay this as soon as possible.

Where?

Braggtown Baptist Church (3218 N Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27704)

The church is allowing us to use the classrooms and downstairs stage area during our production days. This will allow us to continue school work while groups are not performing.

When?

Wednesday, December 7th: Moving supplies and dress rehearsal

Thursday, December 8th: AM and PM performance (specific times will be announced later)

Friday, December 9th: AM Performance, strike the stage, clean up and load up

The full school day will be held at the church. When students are not on stage they will be completing classwork with the other teachers in classrooms at the building.

How will they get there?

Two options:

1) Drop your child off at the church (between 7:55-8:25am) and pick up at the church (between 2:20-2:45). No carline - woohoo!

2) Bring your child to school and we will shuttle kids over at 8:30 each day and back to the school by 2:30 for regular carline dismissal or aftercare. We will need APPROVED PARENT DRIVERS to help us with this each day. I will send out a sign up form soon for volunteers once we have an idea of how many students will need rides.

Please fill out the Play Project Transportation Form to let us know how you would like your child to get to the location each day.

Ticket Reservations

You may request tickets (up to 3 at this time) for one of three performances at this link *Only THURSDAY 9:30am showing is currently available! All other shows are at maximum capacity. https://forms.gle/L9quxUXC3KMqmPoCA

The full production will run between 90 and 110 minutes.

Extra Work Time

I will open my classroom to students wanting to spend some more time at school working on project pieces on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-4:45. Pickup will be at the back of the middle school building (carline) at 4:45. I will need to know at least 24 hours in advance if you child plans to stay via email from the parent.

How Can I Help?

Thanks for asking! There are a few ways you can help us with the project:

  • Share your talents! If you work or have a hobby in any of our production areas and would be willing to come share, give feedback, or help our production groups contact Mrs. Miller! Students are working in Props, Lighting & Sound, Hair & Makeup, Set Design, and Costumes.

  • Donate supplies! Donations can help offset student budget costs. We have a Play Project Amazon Wishlist for universal/shared supplies that all classes will need. We could also use a few of these boards (2-3 per class) if anyone is looking to make a larger donation. So classes are on a more even playing field, unless someone has a donation of something (like costumes or a prop piece) already lying around for us to borrow or use, we ask that you not purchase lots of new materials for your child's group. We want the kids to problem solve, design and create as much as possible.

  • Help drive students! If you have an up to date volunteering driving clearance from the school background check we could use you to help shuffle students between the school and church in the morning and/or afternoon. If you are willing to do this please fill out this form: Play Project Drivers
