This task covers general information about the JEP program and UTK's College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) Bailey Graduate School of Education (BGSE) Educator Preparation Program’s policies, procedures, expectations, and practices.
1. JEP Program Overview
Review the information on the Handbook Overview page, which provides information about BGSE's mission and commitments, more details of the JEP program and other educator preparation programs offered by BGSE (this page will open in a new tab). After you review all the information on the Overview page, close the tab and return to this page to continue.
Review the information on the Policy page (this page will open in a new tab). Here you will find links with detailed information about various policies relevant to JEPs. You may not want to read all of these policies word-for-word, but please know that you can find them on this Policy page should you ever need them. After you review the information on the Policy page, close the tab and return to this tab to complete the Task 6 Check for Understanding below.
Policy highlights for the JEP Program:
1) Candidate Observation Evaluation Schedules
Page 5 outlines the observation schedule requirements for JEP.
LEA stands for Local Education Agency. LEA is listed in the observation schedule chart which refers to a person from your school that will be conducting your observation. Other observation by UTK will be conducted by a UTK supervisor.
2) Video Observations
JEPs need to have consent forms for video observations signed.
3) Child Protection Training Instructions
All JEPs are required to complete the Child Protection Training to finalize their admission into the JEP Program.
4) Summative Pedagogical Assessment Requirement
A required performance-based assessment that must be completed by the end of the JEP Program. You learned about this in Gateway 5.
5) Google Certified Educator Level 1
All JEPs are required to successfully complete the Google Certified Educator Level 1 training during the first year of the JEP program. This document provides an overview of UTK's policy regarding Google certification. Here is an overview and some tips for the Google Certified Educator Level 1 training: Google Cert Tips
