New Zealand and Australia 2028 Informational Meeting--Tuesday, May 12th at 7pm in VLHS Family Room
Miss Weilnau has been teaching at Valley Lutheran High School since 2010. While most of her time is spent teaching English and psychology, she also directs plays, co-advises NHS and travel club, and coordinates Senior Retreat. She also plans and cooordinates many international travel opportunities for VLHS students and the great VLHS community. She first traveled with EF (Education First) in 2014, and since then Miss Weilnau has traveled to over a dozen (and counting) countries in partnership with EF.
Miss Weilnau loves having the privilege of watching her students step out of their comfort zones and experience the world outside of their MidMichigan communities first hand. She has seen firsthand the enormous impact that international travel has had on her students (and their families) over the years. This tremendous student growth, and the ability to experience local culture, meet new people, and explore the world with her students, motivates Miss Weilnau to continue working with EF to offer lots of valuable travel experiences to the Valley Lutheran community.
In the fall of 2023 Miss Weilnau was selected to serve as a Global Education Ambassador (GEA) for EF Tours due to her travel experience. In this role, Miss Weilnau helps prepare and support new group leaders and to assist local group leaders with their travel programs. The GEA programs also allows her to collaborate and share best practices with educators from all over the US who are also passionate about and experienced in student travel.
The map above highlights all the places Miss Weilnau has been able to travel with students, adults, and other group leaders!
Miss Weilnau partners with EF Educational Tours for all of her student tours. (She used EF Go Ahead tours when she led an adult tour to Ireland in 2024). Through her work with EF she has been able to see so much of the world; if you'd like to learn more about leading tours of your own--reach out to Miss Weilnau at jweilnau@vlhs.com.
"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
