Vision:

The Vision of the Department is to develop the department as a center for academic excellence through teaching and research that encourages and nurtures literary sensibilities, language competence and critical thinking.

Mission

The Mission of the Department is to inculcate good values and aesthetics through literature, to improve communication skills by adopting innovative strategies and to prepare the students to face challenges in the competitive world.

Department Goals

1. Educate students to read critically, write clearly and imaginatively, think logically, and speak articulately about literature and language.

2. Promote critical literacy, the capacity to interpret, evaluate, and contextualize literary and social text. 

3. Acquire and disseminate knowledge of our expanding literary and cultural heritages.

4. Teach a historical sense of language and literature in English in all their diversity to the multicultural student body from the state. 

5. Lead students to realize how the expressive and analytical skill they acquire and exercise in their study of English prepares them for a wide variety of meaningful professional employment opportunities upon Graduation.
