Vitality Counseling and Art Therapy, PLLC

Offering compassionate traditional counseling and art therapy services to residents of Virginia

About Me

My name is Monika Isip, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist with over 18 years of experience. Through my practice, Vitality Counseling and Art Therapy, my aim is to help clients sort through confusion, learn/practice new ways of understanding and responding to experiences, meet their wounds with compassion, and reconnect with their inherent vitality.

I often support clients who are navigating the effects of change, chronic stress, or trauma. Some report feeling too intensely, while others feel detached. Often, their relationships are difficult. I serve older teens and adults of all ages and have training and experience with a wide range of presenting issues, including complex trauma, family/ relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, and ADHD.

In addition to offering therapy and training/supervision to other clinicians, I've participated in my own personal therapy throughout adulthood. I understand the importance of being offered honest, collaborative, and thoughtful intervention. Whether through this practice or another, I hope that you find a meaningful experience!

I offer individual therapy for teens 17+ and adults of all ages. Services typically start off more frequently and then taper as confidence builds and functioning improves. Decisions about frequency of services and treatment plan are made collaboratively between Clinician and Client.

Family therapy is sometimes offered in tandem with individual therapy to facilitate education, communication and practices that will support the individual client's continued progress.

In-Office Visits

In-person sessions are offered at my Virginia Beach office, primarily on Wednesdays and Thursdays. During visits, Clients have access to warm and cold drinks, fidget tools, and a variety of expressive arts materials to make the visit as comfortable as possible.

Virtual Visits

Video sessions are offered through Simple Practice's HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. Virtual sessions are available to residents anywhere in the state of Virginia.

My Approach

My practice, which incorporates art therapy for clients who are interested, includes depth-work, offered in tandem with practical learning and skills. I seek to deeply understand the whole person, integrated mind/body, and the relationships/systems in which they have existed. My integrative approach is relationally-based, trauma-informed and centered around compassion and honesty.

I pull from a variety of therapeutic models and interventions to meet each client's unique concerns, characteristics and needs in a tailored manner. A few of the models/ interventions that I often integrate include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness, Ego-State Interventions/ Parts Work, and Attachment and Trauma-Focused approaches.
