Message from our District Administrator about School Supplies and Meals for the upcoming school year:
As we are preparing for our first day of school on Monday, August 30th, I hope this message finds you enjoying your summer. In an effort to make school as reasonable and affordable for families as possible, Viroqua Area Schools is excited to be able to provide general school supplies for the 2021-22 school year. General school supplies include items such as paper, pencils, scissors, glue, colored pencils, etc. Students and parents will be responsible for some items including organizers/binders, back pack, water bottle, tennis shoes, physical education shoes and clothing (VMS/VHS), and any other personalized items, as needed by your child(ren)’s grade level. Your child’s teacher may communicate if there are specific school supply needs for their class.
In addition to this, for the 2021-22 school year, the USDA has extended the free meals program resulting in breakfast and lunch for all students at no cost to the families. Lastly, general school and activity fees have been waived for the 2021-22 school year.
All of these efforts have been put into place in order to provide the best possible educational experience for your children with the least amount of financial burden on our families. Please contact your building principal with specific questions.
Thank you for all you do for your children and the Viroqua community.
Sincerely,
Tom Burkhalter
District Administrator
