About Me
I am an analytics director at TNTP working primarily on the organization's external research agenda. My current portfolio comprises research around K12 students' access to personalized supports and the role of education in providing students with long-term economic and social mobility. I am also engaged in ongoing research on educator labor markets.
My research uses a mix of causal and descriptive techniques to: (a) evaluate policies that enhance teaching quality (e.g., through recruitment, training, and retention); (b) explore inequities in access to high-quality learning experiences; and (c) identify the implications of educational policies for ameliorating academic and socio-economic disparities. Recent projects include analyzing teachers’ early-career skill development, exploring the dynamics of teacher hiring, and describing the relationship between high school experiences and long-term wellbeing. My research has been published in the American Educational Research Journal, AERA Open, Education Finance and Policy, the Journal of Educational Research and Effectiveness, and the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management.
Immediately prior to joining TNTP, I was a post-doctoral research associate at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. Previously, I worked in assessment development and reporting at CAE, and in health-policy grants management at The Commonwealth Fund. I have a Ph.D. in education policy from the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, where I was an IES-VEST pre-doctoral fellow, and a Master’s degree in public affairs from the Baruch School of Public Affairs at the City University of New York. My undergraduate degree is from NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
