Hello. I would like to start this off with saying that this is NOT a hardware issue I am having. If I switch headsets, the crackling persists in the right side. Using headsets on a different device, sounds great. There are no crackles when using headphones on other devices. A second point, to clear out pointless troubleshooting that I have done for YEARS now, it is not my headphone jack. Throughout my troubleshooting I have found a TEMPORARY solution to this issue. So if all you have to offer is checking my hardware, don't waste my time responding.

With that out of the way, I am having an issue with using headphones on my windows 11 laptop. It is a Dell Alienware laptop, originally came with windows 10, which the issue was present then as well, and was upgraded to windows 11. The issue is that whenever any sound is played through the headphones, only the right side has this crackling/popping sound that, while not necessarily loud, can become quite distracting when trying to listen to commentary. As explained above this is the same for every headset device I have ever used with this laptop. Now, right away you would think that it is a result of a faulty headphone jack. But I am more inclined to believe it is some setting/driver issue because I can get it to go away, at least until my laptop restarts.

So if it is a driver issue, I just have to update the drivers, yeah? Makes the most sense. So I go to realtek and download them. When updating or reinstalling a Realtek driver, the process is it has to uninstall the drivers, restart the computer, install them, restart the computer again. I've lost count at how many times I've done this. Until I found a driver that, if not fully completed, stops the crackling. I have no idea what version of the driver is, but if I start the installation process, restart the computer the first time, and then cancel the re-installation, the crackling is gone. I can switch headphones, and it does not come back.

But should my computer be restarted, either by me, or a random update in the middle of the night while it should be closed and asleep (I know it does it at night because it lights my LEDs up like a christmas tree, even though the laptop is still shut. Even the alienware logo lights up on the lid, then the crackling returns and I have to repeat the process. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times before it finally works.

I'm using a Lenovo Legion Y530 with Windows 10 1809 (Intel i5-8300H) and I have noticed for a long time that my sound has a lot of crackling/popping. After weeks investigating it (I'll provide more details at the end of the post for those interested) I found out that one setting in power plan configurations is responsible for this.If i set "Processor performance boost policy" on power plan options to 0%, there is no crackling. If I set it to 100%, there is a popping on average every 3 seconds, which makes it unbearable to work while listening to music. This is not a hardware problem, it is exclusively linked to this setting. I have tried to update/downgrade every driver possible, but the problem persists.

I exported all hidden configurations from both plans using the method described here. Then I imported it into an excel to check what were the different configurations between both plans. I unhid the hidden settings using the method described here. I changed one by one and played a 100hz video to easily spot the crackles. Nothing changed until i modified the "Processor performance boost policy". I also noticed that by changing the "Processor energy performance preference policy" also caused the audio to crackle, but in a much smaller scale (around an average of a crackle every 15 seconds, compare to the 3 seconds average of the performance boost policy).

Problem: I upgraded from a DDJ-SX3 to and DDJ-1000SRT and began experiencing a crackling sound (random intervals approx. 1-2 seconds apart). This did not occur if sound was input through a line connection (AUX 2 RCA in channel 4), only for sound that travelled through the USB port. I use a Surface Book 3 (max spec) with Windows 11.

Yes, it must be something else because the crackling comes and goes. At times, the crackling is gone but it always comes back within a minute or so. However, nothing else is new. I simply swapped out one box for another. anything going on behind the scenes has always been there with Audacity and the old Saffire pro.

After the tests finished I restarted the test machine (Windows 10), and noticed that my sound seems to be messed up. When I play audio, at first it sounds OK. However, when I move the mouse or just click on Start button with it, the sound crackles. Also, when I launch an app, it also crackles. Closing a single tab in a browser gives a crackle. CPU usage triggers it?

I unplugged all usb devices from the laptop, but it didn't help. I tried reinstalling an audio device with newest drivers (Realtek), turned off all sound enhancements in system sound settings, tried pretty much everything in the settings related to audio. Still, the sound crackles. Happens on both laptop speakers, headphones, or USB headphones (much more heavily on USB headphones).

Hi all - I've got a Ryzen 5 (5500U)HP Pavillion windows 11 which i thought would easily cope with pianoteq 8 standard but am getting crackling through headphones (checked other headphones and no improvement). The Perf window in Pianoteq shows: 69...154 (Warning: large fluctuations)

I notice max polyphony is only 16 which seems very small. I've mine set much higher and I've seen current polyphony go into 18+ many times. I don't know if it's the cause of crackling, but I'd suggest you raise this significantly anyway.

Since setting the system to high performance there has been a marked improvement (it's actually useable now) but i'm still getting some crackle. The pianoteq graph audio graph is pretty level now without any red spikes or warnings but there is a really annoying/distracting crackle which is quite frequent..but not consistent - like interference?

Suspected headphones (Senheisser HD598) but having plugged them into laptop for spotify/youtube they're fine and listening direct from the Kawai CA67 they're fine also. when connected to laptop through pianoteq there is a marked difference. it seems fine when playing the keyboard at the bottom of the pianoteq screen and when listening to the blues demo also and selecting different instruments. purchased new headphone cable and USB cable. Tried using Fiio k3 amp and this made no difference to the crackle. using asio4all.

When I replaced my old desktop due to my USB ports failing, I got a high-end Dell 8950 computer. I set up everything and had crackles, zaps, pops, and outright scary buzzing. After replacing cables, and even going for a discrete soundcard, I still had problems and deep down inside I thought something was wrong with my Roland LX-17, perhaps a blown speaker or something even though I never pushed the hardware that loud.

Some basic things should be done to troubleshoot a windows based machine. Run "startup" and disable most unneeded apps. Run "msconfig" to give you access to other troubleshooting apps, like "resource monitor" and "performance monitor". Disconnecting the Wi-Fi is another test option as are running "task manager" and "task scheduler". Selective startup and safe mode are other troubleshooting options. Good luck.

In case nothing seems to work, you might want to consider getting a Windows 10 key to downgrade your OS. There are several websites where you can buy a key, such as reddit windows 10 key. However, make sure to purchase it from a reliable source.

You can do this by checking the specs of his computer. You can find this information by going to the Control Panel and clicking on System. There you'll see the processor, RAM, and storage information. If you're not sure about the technical terms, you can use a program like CPU-Z or Speccy to get a detailed report of your dad's PC specs. These programs are super easy to use and will give you all the info you need. Once you have all the information, you can compare it to the system requirements for microsoft windows 11 pro. If everything checks out, then you're good to go. You can download and install Windows 11 Pro on your dad's PC.

I am looking for advice on anything else I can try to get a TonePort UX2 working on Windows 10. It crackles continuously during playback no matter what the buffer size, power settings, system load, which feels like a driver problem to me.

Hi all... I too am getting that crackling noise - I've even looked around and someone suggested audio incompatibilities with asio and windows 10 - so i installed the asio4all drivers - and Nope - no change. I tried changing the power balance - Nope. Line 6 sent me a link with troubleshoots and things to try - nope nothing. I actually brought an entirely new computer because it was doing the same thing on my old one, which was then equated to be an issue with my computer not the line 6 product via contacting line 6 directly... which now i can clearly see its not - and that was using a windows 7 based system. I've changed my cables, my mixer, using UX2 direct to computer and not using uX2 direct for recording, I've tried different guitars, Installing old drivers vs installing new ones, reauthorizing the product, different usb ports.... the only thing i haven't tried is a new UX2 unit. I really think this is truly a driver and windows 10 incompatibility issue and am now being forced to look at alternative companies and products in order to record my music. This is my last attempt to find help in fixing this issue. I really don't know what else to try, i love my UX2 but feel that i will have to look elsewhere for my guitar tones going forward as I can't use a product that isn't working properly on my recordings. be457b7860
