Curiosity drives my research — curiosity about how atoms bond, how materials respond to light, and how we can transform invisible physical processes into meaningful technologies.
I’m Zubair Aslam, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Physics at TGPCET, Nagpur, where I teach Engineering Physics and conduct laboratory classes for undergraduate engineering students. I am also a Ph.D. researcher and former CSIR-SRF at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, with a research focus on metal-based chalcogenide thin films and nanomaterials. My work explores their optical, electrical, and photoelectrical properties, aiming to tailor material functionalities for futuristic applications such as photodetectors, phase-change memory, sensors, and green photocatalysis.
I have hands-on expertise with a wide range of characterization tools — UV-Vis spectroscopy, SEM, XRD, DSC, and I–V measurements — but for me, it’s never just about the instruments. It’s about the questions they help answer:
What happens when Se–Te systems are doped with rare-earth or post-transition metals?
Can we decode switching behavior from microscopic textures?
Can a nanomaterial detect toxins in water within seconds?

Studying steady-state and transient photoconductivity in Se-based thin films under controlled light exposure.
Tuning crystallization and electrical conduction in quaternary chalcogenide systems.
Designing carbon quantum dots for fluorescence-based sensing of explosives such as picric acid.
