"Zuba" is a term in the indigenous Zambian language of Nyanja which translates to "Sun". As the principal source of energy for humanity, the sun serves as Earth's own natural nuclear reactor, generating 3.8 * 10¹⁴ terawatts of power, and has the potential to meet all our energy demands.
Our successful transition to sustainable energy as a civilisation will depend on our ability to efficiently harness this abundant renewable resource!
This project is a green initiative that focuses on utilizing clean energy to provide lighting, clean water pumping, irrigation, and other electricity needs for rural communities in Africa that are not connected to the traditional grid. We present an opportunity for the government and other stakeholders to work towards a net-zero carbon economy by decarbonizing the grid and adopting renewable energy options hence promoting sustainable development.
Listen first hand from a rural community leader on the challenges faced by residents due to the lack of energy access. We speak to Mr. Clifford N'gambi who serves as Community Secretary for Kalangwe community in Chisamba, Zambia.
