This Level 1 course will provide instruction, interactive learning (e.g. improv activities, games, demonstrations, group presentations, discussions, art, and music), and practice with feedback in order to help you coach effectively right away. Through a combination of synchronous sessions and personalized, flexible asynchronous work, this course will provide the needed 60 hours of professional coaching skills "coaching education" required for ICF credentialing as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC).
This course gathers high-quality people who:
Want top-quality experiential learning,
Want to take their leadership, coaching, mentoring, or people-development work to the next level,
Want the most cost-effective way to fulfill the 60-hour training requirement for an ICF credential.
Just like quality coaching, this course will be adapted according to the topics and skills most relevant to what the group needs. While we will ensure we follow the ICF competencies and requirements, we also have lots of flexibility for your real-life interests to help shape our activities and refine our learning modules.
Whether you are interested in professional accreditation with the ICF, providing internal coaching or mentoring in your organization, or wanting to better empower your team as the supervisor or team leader, this course will help you take your leadership to the next level. You will also learn to better embody a coaching mindset and apply relevant coaching skills in all areas of your life.
Note: Instruction and group mentor coaching is in English, so comfortability listening and speaking in English is essential. Practice can be cooridnated in other languages if other participants have other language preferences too. Assessment is only available in English. If other languages are preferred participants can use the ICF portfolio pathway.
Many leaders tend to focus on getting work done through people, but wise leaders focus on developing capacity in their people through work. A significant characteristic of highly effective leaders is that they spend less time doing the work themselves, and instead prioritize developing those around them and their teams.
“Leaders may impress others when they succeed,
but they impact others when their followers succeed.” - John Maxwell
This Level 1 Core Coaching Skills Training will give you practical skills to better develop the capacity of those around you. You will gain a variety of useful tools and skills to use formally and informally with colleagues, clients, friends, and family. The training will enable you to:
Shift from a problem-based focus to a solutions-based focus
Help those around you feel more supported and empowered
Facilitate others in increasing their own sense of responsibility and intentionality to take the next steps forward
Resolve conflict more proactively
Achieve greater synergy working with others
Be more generative and present in your conversations
Lead better meetings, and participate more effectively
This course will introduce you to a variety of coaching models and tools.
People often find it helpful to have a way before they can find their way. With that in mind, the course will use the simple AAAAA model as the initial conversation framework.
This model is straightforward and provides a solid foundation with which students can build core coaching skills. As learners develop confidence and learn about other models, they will be free to adapt or create one that might better fit their style or context.
