I have no solution to suggest. I have the same issue. I KNOW my blur setting is off and have checked every other setting and cannot fix this. I have also tried other platforms and the blur is not there - Google Chat, IMovie. Interestingly, like you said, my image is crystal clear almost as if it is highly focused (like using the fstop on a camera.) But the background is blurred, but not as much as if I have the blur filter in video turned on.

Holy hell you're a genius! That did it for me! I have been searching for MONTHS for a fix to this blurry background issue. Followed your steps and turned off "portrait" in the settings and it's crystal clear now. Thanks so much!!

I'd never have thought this. I've been dealing with this problem for over a month and was convinced it was a bug in Zoom that it was ignoring my "none" background setting and always applying blur. I've got grey hair and blur makes it disappear and appear frequently on Zoom calls, which others find distracting. I'm not using a Mac but it turns out that there was bloatware on my Lenovo laptop called "Lenovo Smart Appearance" which had accessed my camera on 12th May and that would be when my problems started. My solution was to restore my webcam to factory default settings and uninstall the offending bloatware.

After you enable the blurred background, that virtual background will be used for your future meetings. To disable Virtual Background, open the virtual background options again and choose the option None.

I am using Mac OS 13.2 and recently my Zoom background is always blurred unless I have a photo for my virtual background. I have tested with multiple cameras (built-in, iPhone, NexiGo) and all show this behavior in Zoom. It does not occur in other apps such as FaceTime or Photo Booth. It is not quite as blurred as the "Blur" option in the "Background & Effects" but clearly out of focus.

On the new versions of MacOS, Apple has added a new Video Effects (Change video effects for FaceTime calls on Mac ). Try to turn off the Video Effects mode while using Zoom. The blurred background effect should then be removed.

Title has it, just wondering how to Blur background in Zoom calls. I don't have Zoom Pro, is that the issue? Just wondering how to fuzz out everything behind me, shouldn't seem to be that hard, but it's not in the Settings>Background & Effects>Virtual Backgrounds.

The new Zoom feature to just blur your background in the virtual background tab shows up for me on my PC, and many of my friends. But a handful it doesn't appear. They are definitely on the newest update. I can't find any info from Zoom support on the feature being limited in roll out.

I have a very important interview tomorrow and my living situation has changed in the last week. I'm in a pretty small room - nothing special. I have all clutter gone and it looks nice, but I tried the blur and I personally think it looks better. Does anyone have any input? I know that I personally had a professional meeting with someone on. Blur before and I wasn't a huge fan, but maybe that's because I enjoy sizing up people's zoom areas.. lol.

During your call, tap your screen to pull up the meetings controls toolbar and tap the More  icon. Then tap Backgrounds & Effects to select Blur to blur your background. It will automatically change in the meeting.

As of writing this, Zoom does not support person/face-detection based virtual background in their Linux-version software. The solution below helps achieve the similar effect, and since it creates a virtual webcam, you can most likely use this solution for any apps that use a webcam, for example, Microsoft Teams. These instructions were originally posted by @BenTheElder, and IMO is a super fun and neat project, especially if you are into computer vision. -source-virtual-background/

What the code is doing essentially is grabbing image frames with Python and OpenCV. For each image, the face/body is cropped using TensorFlow.js Bodypix, and merged with the specified background. The modified images are then used to create the video feed via pyfakewebcam and v4l2loopback. I have tested the below instructions with Ubuntu 20.04, code used is archived in -background

As others have pointed out already, virtual background without green screen is not yet supported by zoom for Linux. There is a feature request for this in the zoom developer forum. Maybe supporting it can help making this feature a priority:

Heads up: A blurred background takes a bit of time to load. Just like another virtual background. So if you switch from one Zoom meeting to another, you might get a pop-up that asks you whether you want to continue the meeting without the background or wait for the latter to load. In case the virtual or blurred background takes too long to load, just restart the meeting.

Zoom users involved in a meeting can also choose to blur their background at any time during the call. This may be a good option if people in your home start moving around behind you during a meeting, or when you notice the background is messy.

Notably, when clicking the blurred background option, some users may find it takes a while for the feature to load, similar to another virtual background. If the blurred or virtual background in a meeting takes too long to load, users can restart the meeting to speed it up.

The blur option for backgrounds in Zoom is a popular choice for people who want to preserve their privacy. However, it may not seem like the most professional option in some meetings, as blurred colours and shapes can be more distracting than a simple virtual image.

Users may want to experiment with using the blurred background and virtual background options before they start a meeting in Zoom to ensure the service loads quickly. Other quick tips to ensure the background blur solution works effectively for meetings include:

A massive benefit to blurring your Zoom background is protecting personal information. If your environment has personal information such as family photos, certificates, or even personal effects, like posters or a sports flag, blurring your background is a great way to hide this.

As earlier noted, once the blurred background has been enabled, it automatically remains the default background for your future meetings. This can be undesirable if you only want to use the blurred background temporarily or for a single meeting.

Instead of blurring your physical background, you can replace it with a virtual background. You can choose from the various background images provided by Zoom or upload your images and add them as backgrounds.

There are several Zoom virtual background images you can choose from. Or, try importing your own photos to add as a background. The best virtual background option is one that minimizes distractions and looks sharp.

Since a zoom about a few months ago, the blur background feature doesn't work anymore. Whenever I enable the blur, my video just freezes unblurred. If I unblurr the video my video continues. Anyone has a similar issue?

I'm on X (in case it matters). I've noticed that when I start Zoom myself and then e.g. click on a Zoom link in the browser to join a meeting the blurring works with no issues. However, when I click on a link without starting Zoom first letting it spawn on its own i.e. running it like `zoom zoommtg://zoom.us/blah` instead I get my video frozen.

Zoom recently released an effect named the blurred background which helps users customize the visual effect in meetings. It aims to highlight the figure on the screen of a meeting and put more concentration on the host. It's pretty helpful when having an interview in rush time, and virtual effects prevent you from being embarrassed.

This feature is available on Windows, Mac, and Phone. So, how do you add blur to Zoom? Here, you learn how to apply Zoom blur background. At the same time, the best Zoom meeting recorder is introduced to you.

As Zoom is frequently used in recent days, customized virtual backgrounds have also become a need. This feature can help highlight the character in front of the mirror or hide the embarrassing objects in the background.

For macOS, Zoom also allows this effect in meetings. To focus the character in front of the video, you also use the blurred background feature. Also, before starting to apply, ensure the version of the Zoom is updated.

Step 3. In the above mirror, view the effect in real-time as well. Meanwhile, try other background effects to enrich the meeting. If you are satisfied with it, close the Settings window and back to the Zoom meeting.

Yes, it does. The blurred background effect appears as the new video background option is in the updated version of Zoom. Therefore, if you have downloaded it recently, you should view the Blur effect in Zoom.

So, you know to make your background blurry. But what to do if the blur background option is not available in Zoom? Here are a few quick tips you can practice or check out to make your clean and blurred video calls.

The first thing to check out is whether your computer is eligible to support the blur background option or not. No matter how basic it sounds, blurring the background requires some computational power with OS prerequisites.

If your OS is updated, the next thing is to check your Zoom version. The platform has integrated the blur option for images and videos in different versions. You must ensure your Zoom is either at the latest version or higher than the required one.

Sometimes it may happen due to corruption while your computer unencrypts the files. These errors are less likely to occur but can cause the blur background option not available in zoom. You can easily counter it by uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom. e24fc04721
