Meet our 2025 Awardee, Melinda Le!
Olympia Zonta is happy to assist Melinda as she enters college in the fall with a $2000 scholarship; and we sent her application on to District 8 and Zonta International for a potential additional $5000.
Melinda plans to major in Business Analytics...here's why:
She dreams of creating a startup to provide statistical analysis for NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and nonprofits.
She led a school-wide (Olympia High School) project increasing student attendance at womens' athletic events.
She doubled female membership in the Olympia Robotics Federation.
As a student Leader/STEM, she co-founded CairoBots in 2022 to bring robotics to Egyptian youth. And, every Friday night, she teaches a coding and robotics class to students in Cairo. Teaching these classes has allowed her to share her personal values of equity in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math)
She has served as President & VP of Finance, Washington DECA, serving 16,000+ members statewide.
She is a volunteer at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center helping to promote awareness and understanding of refugees, children, elders and low-income groups in the Asia Pacific island countries..
Melinda received the highest level recommendations detailing her accomplishments, including describing her as diligent, curious, determined, calm, genuine, explorer, informer and forever optimist. Both are excited to see what Melinda becomes in the future because there are so many possibilities due to her passion to learn and give back to her community, country and world!
