Grants and Scholarships

Zonta Club of Olympia is dedicated to annually funding scholarship and award programs that support women (age 16 and above), who are committed to furthering their education in order to reach their career, business, entrepreneurial goals and aspirations. Our club has provided the Doris Drees Endowment Scholarship for many years, helping to remove barriers to education for women who are often returning to college after a period of absence. The Young Women in Public Affairs Award encourages students just entering college/university to pursue public policy making, government and volunteer organization positions. The Jane M Klausman Woman in Business Scholarship is provided to women who are pursuing degrees in business related fields.

At this time, our club is pleased to invite high school young women to apply for the Young Women in Public Affairs Award. If you or someone you know attends high school in Thurston County, is a Senior (age 16 – 19), has demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes, and wants to continue participating in public life, you may be just the young woman we are looking for to receive $1000 award your first year in college (2018). Complete the attached YWPA application, and return to the address listed in the form by February 28, 2018. A recipient will be selected in March. If you have any questions, contact us at: olympiazonta@gmail.com.

Each year, Zonta Club of Olympia grants funds to non-profit organizations in our area whose programs improve women's legal rights, health, education, economic status, end violence against women, and/or enhance women's self-esteem.

Typical grants range from $500 to $3000; and selected organizations are eligible for two years funding.

We congratulate the following non-profit organizations who are grant recipients for 2017-2018 funding years:

Boys and Girls Clubs of Thurston County; Catholic Housing Services/Tumwater Apartments; Community Action Council/Monarch Children’s Justice and Advocacy Center; Family Education and Support Services; Family Support Center; GRuB; P.O.W.E.R.; SafePlace; Senior Services for South Sound; South Sound Parent to Parent; South Sound Reading Foundation; WSU Extension Thurston County/4-H Youth Development; YWCA Olympia.

We look forward to partnering with them throughout the coming two years!
