Zombie Attack, a ROBLOX Zombie Waves game, is made by "wenlocktoad vs indra." This is a group which is owned by Robotgamer. This game was created at 12/12/2017 and it's still being updated to add more to the game. Zombie Attack is known to be very similar to another game called Zombie Rush, which also is a Roblox game.Zombie Attack is a game about killing zombies. It mainly focuses on a team of survivors fighting endless waves of zombies with either guns or knives. As the team of survivors progresses throughout the waves, it will become more difficult as each wave is successfully cleared.

In this zombie waves game, you have the option of using either a gun(ranged) or a melee (knife) weapon (a sword/knife) to kill the enemies which are different types of zombies. You, however, are not alone. Other players assist you to fight off the zombies until the next wave. With each wave getting harder, you (and everyone else) will eventually lose. After a handful of waves have past during the game, you and other players must fight a boss. In waves with a boss, other zombies will not spawn which will leave you only the boss to fight with. There are more than one type of bosses. Bosses have different ways to attack. Once the boss dies, the game will continue back with zombies. Another boss will be waiting after a handful of waves are defeated. Players can also be zombies after they died or when they just joined the server.In summary: Zombie Attack is a game about killing zombies. So, my players (lvl 3) are uncovering a sinister plot where a necromancer is going to attack the village they are using as a hub atm. This will lead into the fight with the necro and the end of chapter 1.They don't know that the village will be attacked (although I have given clues here and there) but next session or the session after will be them finding the village under attack by a small zombie army. This will the first time I ever try anything like this so any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'll quickly outline the attack so you know what is planned:

The NPC's that can fight will attack a few small undead enemies but won't join the initiative orde (so things keep fast paced). For instance NPC 1 is fighting a skeleton. NPC's can take 2 hits and undead can take 1 (or 2 depending how strong they are). So I just roll between turns for NPC and the undead he's fighting. If the undead hits him 2 times before he hits him once the NPC is gravely wounded. One more hit and he/she is dead. NPC's will always fight a small group making it feel the whole village is up in arms but the PC's will fight the main force everytime.

Location 1: they find the owner of the inn protecting 2 kids and a villager trying to run away. They fight a few zombies and skeletons. The unknown NPC has a big chance to die unless the PC's prioritise his safety. After the fight the inn owner tells them to send any survivors to the inn where they can hold out.

Location 2: People are trying to enter the mayors mansion but his guards have barricaded the door (mayor is kinda a dick). The PC's need to save this group while holding off zombies/skeletons and some ghouls. These are all known NPC's except a kid they are trying to keep safe. One of them is the herbalist who gives them 2 potions of firebreathing after he gets saved (or not if he dies)

Location 3: Bigger force of zombies/skeletons and some ghasts. There are quite a few NPC's here (known and unknown) and I expect, unless they play their cards right that some of them will fall quite easily.

Location 4: They find a young girl here who they saved a while ago. Her village was destroyed by zombies and the necromancer raised them all to add to his army (her parents were also killed). The young girl is going towards the zombies because her mother is actually among them. The smith (who took her in) is desperately fighting to save her but he's boxed in. The PC's see this and decide how all of this will play out. Here they will also fight their hobgoblin boss who got raised again.

Location 5: houses are on fire (undead and fleeing people knocked over torches and the resident potion maker tried to use some of those firebreathing potions himself before the heroes arrived...). Only a few undead here but after 1 round the main boss appears: an ogre zombie (their very first quest they did was to look into a cave that was now occupied by an ogre. They killed the ogre because he was asleep and they surprised him (and his initiative roll was abysmal)). I have prepared some extra undead on the side if the fight here is too easy.

Hello. Out of curiosity I've decided to do a little experiment to test for most vulnerable body parts during zombie attack and I've decided to share my results. The tests were performed on a default character with no traits and default starting levels (5 strength and fitness, everything else 0), the character was also wearing no clothes and had nothing equipped. During the test successful hits for each body part were noted in a spreadsheet, the attack type (scratch, bite, laceration) was NOT taken into account. Below I've presented acquired data in the form of pie charts.

I love seeing things like this, it's always interesting. The bias towards the left side of your body could be an anomaly, but it could also be deliberate. Assuming a right handed person using a melee weapon to fight zombies, your left side will in fact be more exposed to attack than you right, either because you're chambering back and preparing to swing, or actively attacking and knocking them back, and being more capable of defending the dominant side of your body. That's why you sometimes see representations of fighters with asymmetrical armor, or only wearing an arm plate on the non dominate side. I don't recall being able to swap handedness, so I suppose it makes sense to design it that way.

Silly question, but have you tried looking for melee instead of zombies? I would assume there are more tutorials on melee enemies in general than zombies in specific.

You could get assets either from the marketplace, from free online sources or by doing them yourself.

I've been plodding around the xmls and have made a mini overhaul for myself and my friend group. I'm now trying to add some custom enemy variants and I want to add a boss type zombie for blood moon that has a deadly ranged attack it uses from very far away. It's that last part that's causing me issues. It seems no matter how I change the hand item to have more range, longer damage falloff, projectile fly time, lifetime, velocity, sight range, angle, etc, I cannot get them to initiate their attack past a range of 24-30m. I've tested this extensively and the only thing I can think of is that in the AITask RangedAttackTarget's data field there might be some value that can be passed (along with item type, cooldown, etc.) that could affect their targeting range. I've tried range, maxRange, and targetRange to no avail.


If anyone knows anything on this (and anything else on modifying the AI behaviors, as there seems to be a ton of things I can't access easily) then I would be grateful because I'm at a dead end with many hours of head pounding trial and error.

One thing i can think of is... are you testing it under a bloodmoon, or with them set to feral? An enemy wont attack something they can't see, and by default the cop's view distance is 30 blocks. So if they are beyond that distance, chances are they wont be able to see you and fire off their attack... Maybe upping that will help?

But also, you can look in the code produced by other modders. I don't know if that would have helped in this case, but since this deals with entity attack code, you could look in one of the mods that adds new zombies or NPCs. Xyth's creature packs or Snufkin's zombies, for example.
