PRIVACY POLICY FOR ZOOM WORKPLACE EXTENSION
Effective Date: August 8, 2026
1. INTRODUCTION
Zoom Workplace Extension ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting user privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices, permissions usage, and commitment to transparency.
2. ZERO DATA COLLECTION STATEMENT
Zoom Workplace Extension DOES NOT collect, store, transmit, process, sell, or share any personal data, sensitive user information, browsing history, meeting content, IP addresses, or analytical telemetry. All extension operations execute entirely within your local Chrome web browser.
3. USE OF PERMISSIONS & EXPLANATION
To function properly, the extension requests two specific API permissions in manifest.json:
a) "storage" Permission:
- Purpose: Allows the extension to save your local UI preferences (such as brightness level, background color code, and opacity percentage).
- Scope: Settings are stored locally in your browser via Chrome's `chrome.storage.sync` API so your preferred theme is retained across browser restarts.
- Data Handling: Preference data remains strictly on your local device or synced within your personal Google Chrome account storage. No data is sent to external servers.
b) "activeTab" Permission:
- Purpose: Allows the extension popup to interact with the currently focused browser tab when you click the extension popup.
- Scope: The extension checks if the active tab's URL matches Zoom web domains (zoom.us or zoom.com) so it can safely send your styling configuration to the active Zoom page.
- Data Handling: This access is temporary and restricted to active user interaction. No tab browsing history or tab URLs are logged, saved, or transmitted anywhere.
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES & ANALYTICS
The extension does not integrate any third-party tracking scripts, advertising networks, external APIs, analytics software, or remote code execution.
5. SECURITY
Because all data processing occurs locally within Chrome's sandboxed extension environment, your visual configurations are protected by Google Chrome's built-in extension security mechanisms.
6. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
If we make changes to this privacy policy in future updates, the updated policy will be included in the extension package and published on the official support page.
7. CONTACT & INQUIRIES
If you have any questions regarding this Privacy Policy or permission usage, please contact the extension developer team through the official Chrome Web Store support listing.
