THE BAND

ZKIN is a Swedish duo formed in Linköping by Jonas Gustafsson and Malin Jeraeus, two musicans who wanted to create a dimension where they move beyond genres and labels. Their music has a strong rythm, mysterios melodies and an electronic vibe. They describe their music as Dessert Soul, Bristol Blues and Cinematic Industrial synth rock - also known as "Dark Pop".

BIOGRAPHY

ZKIN started out in 2023 as a playfull studioproject, a completely new path for both Jonas and Malin. In 2023, Zkin began a collaboration with former Ghost member Simon Söderberg who mixed their first EP and was mastered by Magnus Lindberg. In 2024, the band was ready to make new recordings and hired Simon as producer, which involved new landscapes of sound and energies.

ZKIN is all about experimenting with sound, genres, darkness and never setteling with boxing themselves in to make it easy listening. Early on they felt that their music also has a visual meening, which has led to a continues stream of new ideas culminating in various musicvideos.

Jonas grew up with parents rooted in the 1960 and 1970s music scene. Parellell to that he has always had a strong anchoring in jazz and blues. At the age of 13 he descovered sleeze- and punk rock and played in multiple bands mostly influenced by the LA scen. Further on he toured Europe as a bandmember and manager of different Swedish bands.

Malin has a uniqe quality in her voice, always with her heart in every word and sound. From an early age she has been singing in bands with influences from soul, funk, blues and rock. Nina Simone, PJ Harvey and Alanis Morissette are some of the strong powerfull women vocalist who has affected her style of singing.
