Zhifeng Gao (zfgao@ufl.edu) (CV)

I am a Professor in the Food and Resource Economics department at the University of Florida. My research mainly uses primary data from surveys and lab/field experiments as well as secondary data to enhance the understanding of the factors that affect individual behavior related to food choice and agriculture technology. Most of my research focuses on strategies and policies that promote sustainable food consumption and sustainable technology adoption among farmers.  I have published more than 100 articles in journals such as Food Policy, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Ecological Economics, Journal of Agricultural Economics, Food Quality and Preference, etc. I teach three courses at the graduate level and have served on the committees of 70 graduate students, chairing/co-chairing 29 of them. I am the Academic Editor of PLOS ONE, and on the editorial board of the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics, Journal of Integrative Agriculture, and Economia Agro-Alimentare/Food Economy. I am the recipient of the UF Research Foundation Professorship (2023-2026), the University Term Professorship (2017-2019), the 2021 AAEA Distinguished Teaching Award (more than 10 years of graduate teaching&mentoring), the 2021-2022 CALS Graduate Teacher/Advisor of the Year Award, the University of Florida, and the 2022 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Educator Award.
