# Privacy Policy for ZenNote
Effective date: April 29, 2026
ZenNote ("the app") is a notes and home screen widget app for Android. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you create, edit, delete, and display notes on your device.
Developer: Yax Technologies
Privacy contact: yaxtechnologies@gmail.com
## Information the app handles
ZenNote lets you create notes. A note may include:
- Note title
- Note content
- Note color
- Creation or update time
- A locally generated note identifier
- The note selected for an Android home screen widget
This information is entered or selected by you. Because note text is user-created, you should avoid saving sensitive information unless you are comfortable storing it on your device.
## How information is stored
ZenNote stores your notes locally on your Android device using app storage. The app also stores local widget data so Android home screen widgets can show the note you selected.
ZenNote does not operate a server for notes, does not create user accounts, and does not sync your notes to a developer-controlled cloud service.
Your device or Google account settings may separately back up app data through Android system backup features. Those backups are handled by Android and Google according to your device settings and Google's policies, not by ZenNote.
## How information is used
ZenNote uses your note information only to:
- Show your notes inside the app
- Let you create, edit, and delete notes
- Display selected notes in Android home screen widgets
- Open the correct note when you tap a widget
## Data collection and sharing
ZenNote does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your notes or personal information with the developer or third parties.
ZenNote does not include advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or social login features.
## Permissions
The Android release version of ZenNote does not request sensitive Android permissions such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, or phone access.
Development builds may include Android internet permission for Flutter debugging features such as hot reload. This permission is for development only and is not used by ZenNote to collect or transmit user data.
## Home screen widget visibility
If you add a ZenNote widget to your Android home screen, the selected note title and content may be visible to anyone who can view your device screen. You can remove a widget from the home screen at any time using your Android launcher.
## Data retention and deletion
Your notes remain on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app.
You can delete an individual note from within ZenNote. You can delete all locally stored app data by uninstalling ZenNote or by clearing the app's storage in Android system settings.
ZenNote does not keep a developer-side copy of your notes, so the developer cannot recover deleted notes or delete notes remotely for you.
## Security
ZenNote stores notes in the app's private local storage area on your device. The app does not transmit your notes over the internet. Device-level protections, such as screen lock, device encryption, and Android backup settings, are managed by Android and your device manufacturer.
## Children's privacy
ZenNote is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app stores notes locally and does not transmit them to the developer, the developer does not knowingly receive personal information from children.
## Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the app after a policy update means you accept the updated policy.
