CABE Secondary
Who We Are?
CABE Secondary is an alternative education school in the Coquitlam School District. Many of our students are vulnerable and have struggled in mainstream school for a variety of reasons. Our self paced flexible schedule and continuous enrollment allow us to offer different educational opportunities than traditional secondary schools.
CABE has a vibrant school community that prides it's self on creating a sense of belonging through meaningful connections. Below are a few pictures of the magic that happens at our school everyday. Musical therapy, community wood projects, school celebrations etc....We are always looking for more ways to reach all of our students as we have a very diverse group of amazing students to work with.

The answer is not to standardize education, but to personalize and customize it to the needs of each child and community. There is no alternative. There never was. - Ken Robinson
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to create a functional space with in our school that can be used as a:
Zen Den - a calm & quiet space to relax
Work Space with alternative seating - many of our neurodivergent students struggle with long hours at a desk. Bean bags, rocking chairs, and carpet space work better for some students.
Access to quick and effective self-care hacks - increase happy hormones/neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin , and endorphins so that students can improve their mood and are ready to learn.
A functional Zen Den aligns with a course taught at CABE called Self-Efficacy 11. This course provides and overview of how the brain works and how we can make better choices for ourselves using the principles of neuroplasticity and growth mindsets.
