Zainab Altaweel

 

About Me

I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at Binghamton University. Currently working with AIR Research Group, advised by Prof. Shiqi Zhang. My research interest is Machine Learning, and Human Machine interaction.

I was granted the Fulbright Scholarship to do a master's degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Bridgeport in 2018-2020

I bring six years of enriching experience in academia, as a teaching assistant at Al-Nahrain University and the University of Kerabal in Iraq, complemented by four years of hands-on software development experience at Kubtec Medical Imaging, focusing on Hardware-Software Integration in Medical Imaging Technology.

Thesis Title: Speech Signal Enhancement Based on Sequence to Sequence Model with a Novel Attention Mechanism, Supervised by Prof. Ausif Mahmood.

In this thesis, a new deep-learning model was proposed and implemented to enhance speech signals and reduce noise. The model was built and trained using Python and Keras.

Academic Projects

Designed and implemented a three-level contacts hierarchy system for six different types of contacts. The DMS creates a directory and runs queries on it. The project was implemented with C++ and documented using UML Diagrams.

Designed and implemented a prototype for smart Disabled parking, using RFID technology, raspberry pi microcontroller, ultrasonic sensor, and an RGB led. Python was used to program the controller and ThingSpeak for collecting data.

Designed and implemented a client-server architecture for sharing files. The server was implemented using ASP.NET, C#, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL server.
