Title: The Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture, passcode: yF&OUSU4

Abstract: The BSD conjecture is a statement which predicts a deep relation between the arithmetic and analytic properties of elliptic curves. While still largely open, there has been considerable progress towards it in low rank cases. After reviewing the statement of the conjecture, we shall go over some of the known results and well as what comes into their proof.
