To honor this significant milestone, a father and daughter originally from Hiroshima—the city that endured the atomic bombing—host a special reading performances, as a heartfelt prayer for peace.

The featured work is The Face of Jizo (Chichi to Kuraseba) by Hisashi Inoue—a deeply moving story set in post-bomb Hiroshima, depicting the spiritual dialogue between a daughter and her late father.

The performance will be presented in Japanese (Hiroshima dialect) with English subtitles. The father, Nobuyuki Miyake, will travel from Japan, while his daughter, Yuriko Miyake, who lives in New York, joins him along with a third one to read the stage directions. The subtitles will be provided by Roger Pulvers, the translator and filmmaker who worked on the translation of this piece.

This performance aims to share a deeply moving story that transcends borders and cultures, allowing the audience to connect with the father-daughter relationship at its core. Through this heartfelt reading, we hope to convey the importance, fragility, and significance of peace and human connection.

上演作品は、井上ひさし作『父と暮せば（The Face of Jizo）』。原爆投下後の広島を舞台に、亡き父と娘との魂の対話を描いた、深く心を打つ物語です。

公演は日本語（広島弁）で行われ、英語字幕が付けられます。父・三宅信之は日本から来米し、ニューヨーク在住の娘・三宅由利子とともに出演。さらにもう一名がト書きを担当します。字幕は、本作の翻訳にも携わった翻訳家・映画監督のロジャー・パルバース氏によって提供されます。

本公演は、国境や文化を越えて心に響く物語を共有し、その核にある父娘の絆を観客の皆さまに感じていただくことを目的としています。この朗読を通して、平和の尊さ、儚さ、そして人と人とのつながりの大切さをお伝えできれば幸いです。
