Yu Ma

I am an economist specializing in environmental economics. My primary research interest is in the field of environmental economics, with a specialization in environmental policy and environmental justice. I received my Ph.D. in Environmental Policy (economics concentration) at Duke in July 2023.

I am currently a postdoctoral associate at Duke University Nicholas School of Environment. I am currently working on a project (with Gale Boyd) that uses confidential Census of Manufacturing data to construct energy and carbon intensity measures. Manufacturing companies can use this dataset to assess their efforts toward decarbonization for climate change mitigation.

My job market paper studies climate adaptation and results suggest the migration dynamics could exacerbate environmental justice concerns. (Please find the most recent version here)
