My dissertation explores ICT's impact on human capital development in Nigeria and rural China. Paper 1 examines how 3G mobile network expansion affects fertility decisions and female employment in Nigeria. Paper 2 investigates spillover effects of computer-assisted learning and traditional workbook programs in rural Chinese primary schools, finding negative impacts on non-targeted students from workbook programs. Paper 3 will study how parental migration influences early child development and parenting investment in rural China, with preliminary findings showing increasing maternal migration rates as children age, but low overall intensity for children under 20 months.
