The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha was established in the year 1955. The main office of the board is situated in Cuttack. It is responsible for conducting the class 10th exam.
The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha has the authority for class 12th education in the state of Odisha. Its main office is located in Bhubaneshwar.

The Odisha Board has released the new exam pattern for HSC. It will be followed from 2020. The pattern is as follows:
- The objective questions in the exam will hold 50 marks in total.
- The objective questions will have the following questions:
- True/False
- Column Matching
- One Sentence Answer
- One Word Answer
- Fill in the blanks
- In the exam, ten sections will be there. Each section will carry 5 marks.
- In each section, there will be 5 questions. Each question will carry 1 mark.
