In connection with the HILOM: All will be Alright in Time, the Student Government Federation conducted a webinar today, November 29, 2021, with the theme: Paving the Road for a Brighter Tomorrow.
The guest speaker of the event, Mr. John Lawrence P. Delos Santos, introduced mental health as a part of our emotional, psychological and social well-being; it also affects how we think, feel, and act. "It is normal to feel anxious; to feel stress or to be worried about everything, especially at this time of the pandemic," he said.
Furthermore, he also discussed different factors that affect our mental health, such as biological factors, life experiences, and family history. He mentioned in his talk that "Seeking for help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. There is always hope in suffering.”
He gave tips on maintaining care on our mental health and tips on helping someone cope with deteriorating mental health. "Tandaan po natin na we have different challenges in our lives. So, let's not invalidate the feelings of each other. We have different levels of sensitivity," he clarified.
"You are not alone in these battles. Tandaan po natin na healing is a process. Tandaan po natin na we must appreciate our small efforts, our small victories, and our small progress because small progress is still a progress," Delos Santos said.
