With the theme “Creating a Blueprint for a Better Future”, the University of Saint Anthony Junior High school department, spearheaded by the Economics and Socio-Political Student Organization, celebrates the United Nations Day today, November 3, 2021, via Facebook Live.
In the featured talk given by Mrs. Emily Bradshaw, English professor at Brigham Young University–Hawaii and International program developer for Community Development Network, "The youth of the world are called upon to learn human rights, to know what those human rights are and to respect and preserve those rights for yourself and for those in your community, to look around and see the people around you with the same measure of human dignity that you have inside you, to treat others with equality, and respect."
Mrs. Bradshaw also added that "The youth are the perfect group to carry this [appropriate use of human rights] out. I think you get it, I think you're strong, and I think you all are good leaders, and I celebrate United Nations Day and the hope that it gives us for a better world as I celebrate you."
The Human Rights advocate then shared their initiatives in Ghana, Africa, and the Philippines wherein some students of USANT were mentioned to have taken part in a Human Dignity course over the recent summer, as well as anonymous quotes from the said students showing their reflections after undergoing the human dignity program.
The United Nations Day, also known as UN Day, is celebrated every 24th of October and marks the day in 1945 when the United Nations Organization entered into force, binding its 51 member states, and has now expanded to cover up to 193 countries worldwide.
