To inform and widen the knowledge of teenagers about adolescence is the main goal of the webinar hosted by Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (Foundation) Inc. and powered by Multicare. The said webinar was conducted last August 26, 2021, from exactly 8:00 in the morning to noon, with the theme Adolescent Health Issues and Perspectives. The Junior High School SSC students take part in the activity via Zoom.
The Webinar was composed of 6 Modules that were instructed by the Doctors of POGS Bicol. Juria Lilia M. Tanchuling- Listana, M.D. DPOGS shared her knowledge about Module 1 which is Adolescent Health and Development and Module 2: Myths and Misconceptions about Sexuality was clarified by Donna A. Villafuerte, M.D. FPOGS FPSUOG. The 3rd module was discussed by Irish May B. Leabres- Joson, M.D. DPOGS entitled Healthy and Happy Risk Takers and Ruth Lizaso-Dy, M.D. FPOGS talked about Module 4: The Clean Teen. Module 5: Mental Health for teens was tackled by Marofe Merillo-Bajar, M.D. FPOGS and for the last topic, Celestine Gonzales-Lim, M.D. handed her knowledge about Module 6: The New Normal Teens and Social Media.
"The webinar was as informative as it was interactive. Someone was cleared as the truth came to light throughout the webinar, not a second was not informative, right from the start we experienced the educating of the doctors with interactivity every couple of minutes, it was nothing short of exciting as the topic is very relatable to us. I felt excitement and grateful for the experience as a whole" statement given by Kent Charles B. Namoro, one of the participants and also a winner of the quiz they conducted.
Aside from University of Saint Anthony Students, some schools partook also in the Webinar. They also prepared an entertaining and challenging quiz for the participants which tested their knowledge and their typing speed. The game will not be exciting if there are no prizes, so they prepared a load for the winners which costs 100-300 pesos.
They also quoted the phrase, “You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequence of your choice”, to remind the teens to contemplate the act they are going to do and be mindful about their choices.
