SGF Wraps Up Virtual Youth Summit

Last June 12 to 13, the newly elected officers of the Student Government Federation (SGF) held the first-ever Virtual Youth Summit (VYS) a 2-day event that aimed to enhance the leadership skills of the participants and to boost their confidence.

The guest speaker of the summit, Mr. James Nathaniel Refugio, an alumnus of Ateneo de Naga University, talked about Leadership Circles. He quoted a John Donahoe quote saying, “Leadership is a journey, not a destination. It is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a process, not an outcome."

Several games, a mini-concert, a pageant, and a padlet were some of the highlights of the event.

"It was great and I really learned a lot about my leadership skills and also reflecting on myself. It was great to meet new friends even though we are separated, through the screen and, I love the whole event and how fun it was talking and learning with them,” stated Aeriel Austria, newly-elected SGF President.

Erica Mae Naron, a VYS participant, added that "Even though the odds in my surroundings were against me, somehow nakapag push through pa po and that alone po is already an achievement para sa akin.”

A coronation night and awarding ceremony was conducted last night, June 14, 2021, to recognize the hard work and participation of the participants.
