At the center of every town, there it stands. A figure, tall and intimidating, watching everything and everyone within its sight, including you who's now standing before him.
You see him every day you walk pass the same street. You can feel his gaze piercing at you every time you go home from school and from work. And yet, you still can't help but wonder what makes this statue so enticing that whenever you see it, you can't keep yourself from pausing for a while and just stare at it in awe.
Every town, every nation has a hero, and each one has its own masterpiece standing in front of a whole crowd to commemorate him and the sacrifices that he had made to deserve the title. And today, we whole-heartedly celebrate them.
As the youth, we are marked as the hope of the nation. Therefore while we exalt our heroes today, let us do them a favor by preserving the freedom that they have fought for with their life, and the same freedom we are taking advantage of nowadays. In our own little ways, let us continue what they have started. We must set our hearts ablaze and keep the fire burning, so our successors would kindle too.
And to our modern heroes, our front liners who, until now, are fighting with an invisible enemy whilst risking their own lives, you are more worthy of our recognition than anybody else.
We are all very grateful for your service. MABUHAY!
