How are we supposed to give exams when scared of dying?
By Kartik Parmar on July 29,2020
Former University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairperson Sukhdeo Thorat, alongside 27 teachers from various universities in the country, has requested the current UGC Chairman to cancel the decision to hold exams for final semester/year students and rather evaluate them on past performance.
There is a pandemic out there. A hazardous one. Everybody is stressed over their survival. Middle-class and lower-class families are in jeopardy. The economy is plunged and the COVID-19 death toll is launching through the rooftop.
The entire country is suffocating financially. Individuals are losing their positions. Businesses are hitting rock bottom with many even declaring bankruptcy. People are stuck. No more job accessibility. Active children are cemented at home, irritated, and helpless. Every other week a new disaster appears in news. Earthquakes, International conflicts, World War threats, Religious clashes, and what not? Several scholars suggested that this might be prompting the end of our peaceful world.
With all these hazards everywhere, UGC (The University Grants Commission of India) begs to differ. They demand final semester/year exams to be held. These demands have caused many students to speak up. Let's hear what these students have to say........
"We are tired of this drama."
"We want exams to get canceled not because it's a simple way out of college but potentially out of their life. Endangering not only an individual's but their family's health too........ And if they do what they want then who will be responsible of the intellect of our country?"
"Anyone would easily understand that taking a walk in the garden is life-threatening in these circumstances let alone sitting for an exam. Still, in contrast, UGC is confused despite initially declaring cancellation. Why?"
"They say our "Corona Degrees" won't be recognized worldwide. Intending that our previous semesters don't make any difference? My parents would always choose that degree instead of a death certificate."
"If prestigious institutions like IIT Bombay can cancel exams, then why not them?"
In the end, we are no one to conclude any scenario. It is completely based on an individual's perspective but let's just take a second and ask our self this question. Exams or Safety?
