Ionic Materials and Devices Lab.
Materials Science and Engineering, KAIST
Materials Science and Engineering, KAIST
Ions carry charge and drive electrochemistry, enabling energy storage and adaptive responses beyond what electronics can offer.
We study ion dynamics and electrochemistry to tailor transport, reactivity, and mechanical properties of ionic materials.
We design ionic materials ranging from polymers and ceramics to a new class of inorganic molecular solids.
We develop next-generation ionic devices, including solid-state batteries, E-skin sensors, and information-processing devices.
We value fundamental studies that build unique research perspectives. By learning to identify what governs material properties and device performance, you will be able to design new materials and turn them into devices. Students build expertise in solid-state physics, synthesis chemistry, polymer science, electrochemistry, and device engineering, and we actively support them in becoming independent researchers and starting their own companies.
Owing to the interdisciplinary nature of our research, we welcome Postdoc, Master, and Ph.D. students from diverse backgrounds, including physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and energy engineering. *We are currently hiring researchers who speak Korean to assist with the initial lab setup.
