PRIVACY POLICY
Youtube™ Video Shorts for PC
Last updated: September 14, 2026
1. Purpose and scope
Youtube™ Video Shorts for PC lets you watch and interact with YouTube Shorts in Chrome's side panel. This policy explains how the extension handles information when you use its player, navigation, playback settings, comments, replies, likes and link-sharing features.
The developer does not operate a server, remote database or cloud account system to collect or store extension users' personal data. The extension does not send your YouTube session information, viewing activity, comments or browser preferences to the developer. It contains no developer-operated analytics, advertising trackers or remote crash-reporting service.
This does not mean that no information leaves your device. The extension connects directly to YouTube and Google services to provide its features. Those services may process and store information under their own policies.
2. Information the extension accesses and uses
The extension processes the following information as needed for its features:
- YouTube content: video identifiers, titles, channel names, avatars, thumbnails, recommendations, comments, replies, dates, counts and interaction states returned by YouTube.
- Session information: your existing YouTube sign-in state, page configuration, account/session identifiers and authentication cookies available within the YouTube page. These are used to make requests in your existing browser session and to prevent actions from being submitted under an outdated session.
- Your interactions: the Short you select, playback controls, likes or removed likes, and the text of comments or replies you choose to submit.
- Your preferences: mute state, volume, automatic advance and whether you have dismissed the navigation guide.
- Temporary interface state: which browser windows have the side panel open, loaded content, pagination information and pending actions.
The extension does not ask you to enter your Google password into its interface. Sign-in takes place on Google's website. Authentication cookies and authorization hashes used by the integration remain within the YouTube page context; the extension does not copy them into its persistent storage or send them to the developer.
The extension does not collect your general browsing history or the content of unrelated websites.
3. Local storage and retention
Playback and navigation-guide preferences are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. They remain until changed or until the extension's local data is cleared, including when you remove the extension through Chrome. These preferences are not uploaded to a server or synchronized through chrome.storage.sync.
Open-panel window identifiers are kept temporarily in chrome.storage.session. They are used to keep the popup's open/close control consistent with the panel's current state.
Loaded Shorts, comments, temporary session identifiers and action or pagination references are held in extension memory as needed. They are not saved to a developer database or maintained as a persistent viewing-history archive. In-memory information is discarded when its interface or background context is destroyed, or when it is replaced or cleared during operation.
Unsent comment and reply drafts remain in the active form's memory. A failed submission keeps the text available for another attempt. A confirmed submission clears the form. Drafts are not saved to persistent extension storage or backed up remotely by the developer.
4. Direct communication with YouTube and Google
The extension uses a YouTube Shorts tab in the same Chrome profile to access the existing session. It can reuse an open Shorts tab or create a muted supporting tab. Loading recommendations, fetching comments and playing videos involves requests to YouTube and its associated Google media services. These requests can occur as part of normal playback and automatic loading, without a separate click for each request.
When you submit a comment or reply, or add or remove a like, the extension sends the requested action directly to YouTube. Comments and replies may become visible to other people under your YouTube identity. Google may associate viewing and interaction activity with your account and retain it according to your account settings and its policies. Network requests also expose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and browser request information, to the receiving service.
YouTube's embedded player may use cookies and other storage managed by YouTube or Google. The extension's local-storage practices do not control or replace those services' storage practices.
Requests made by the extension's YouTube integration use HTTPS. The developer does not relay these requests through a separate server.

5. Why the extension needs its permissions
- storage: saves local playback preferences and temporary panel state.
- sidePanel: displays and opens or closes the Shorts player and comments interface beside the current webpage.
- scripting: runs code included in the extension package within a YouTube Shorts tab to access the session context and perform the supported requests.
- declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess: sets a Referer header containing an extension-specific identity for YouTube embed iframe requests initiated by this extension. The rule is limited to those player requests; it is not used to log general browsing traffic.
- Host access to https://www.youtube.com/*: allows the integration to locate Shorts tabs, access the relevant YouTube page context and support playback and interactions. The extension does not request access to every website.
6. Sharing, reviews and optional donations
The Share feature copies a Short's link to your clipboard when you confirm the copy action. It does not read your existing clipboard contents or automatically send the link to another person or social network.
The review button opens Chrome Web Store, and the optional donation button opens Buy Me a Coffee. Information you choose to provide on those websites is handled by those services and, where applicable, their payment providers. Reviews or donation details may be visible to the developer or other people according to the service and the choices you make there. These are separate, voluntary interactions; the extension itself does not collect payment-card information or attach your YouTube session credentials to those links.
Chrome Web Store may separately make store statistics and public reviews available to the developer. This is distinct from analytics collected by the extension, which has no such tracking service.
7. Your choices and deletion
You can change playback preferences in the popup, close the panel, or disable or uninstall the extension through Chrome's extension settings. Uninstalling stops the extension from running and removes its extension-managed local data.
Removing the extension does not delete your Google account, YouTube cookies, viewing history, comments, replies or likes already stored by YouTube. Manage or delete that information using YouTube, Google account controls and Chrome's site-data settings. A link copied to the system clipboard is managed by your operating system and is not erased by uninstalling the extension.
There is no developer-hosted account or remote extension-user database that you need to request deletion from.
8. Limited Use
The extension's handling of information received from Google services follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements. Access and use are limited to the disclosed Shorts features. The developer does not sell or rent this information, provide it to data brokers, or use it for personalized advertising or credit decisions. The extension does not give the developer access to read your session credentials, private drafts or viewing activity.
9. Policy updates and independence
This policy will be updated if the extension's data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Any future changes must be reflected in the extension's disclosures and applicable Chrome Web Store requirements.
This is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
