Location I
Unit 1.5
Unit 1.5
"Yoshio zdes, bu zdæs!"
I'm here, not there!
Specifying location in Yoshispeak is typically pretty easy. We've already learned two words that can specify location: Kij and Kil ("In" and "out" respectively)
/È/
To [Direct]
"È" is only used when it relates to location. Otherwise, the To used in sentences such as "I want to" is completely omitted. You use this single-letter word in sentences such as "I am going to you", "Go to the store". We don't have any words for movement though, so let us fix that! Here are some words used for basic movement:
/Gyufro/
Go, Walk, Move
/Gyufra/
Go quickly, Run, Move fast
The words above are for simple movement, typically towards or along the location.
/Yoshio gyufro!/
I'm walking!/I'm going!
/Yoshike gyufra ē yoshiyî/
You're running to him/her
Great! What about the opposite, words for movement from the location?
/Èz/
From, Away from
/Orfgyu/
Come
/Orfgya/
Come quickly, coming running
Notice that "Gyufro" and "Orfgyu" are spelled the same, just flipped. Since they have opposite meanings, you can use this to help you remember them!
One important thing to keep in mind about "Orfgyu" and "Orfgya" is that they don't exactly 100% mean "Come", but rather "Moving away from further location and to closer location", and as a result it has a form for doing the action quickly, aka running but for coming specifically. You need to be sure to use "Gyufra" and "Orfgya" only when appropriate and not when it doesn't fit! For example:
/Yoshiyî orfgya è yoshihom!/
/Yoshiyî gyufra è yoshihom!/
Both basically mean the same thing, but the one using "gyufra" is grammatically incorrect since "He" is running to "Us", but away at the same time. This is not possible (unless "He" is making a lap around the Earth) so it's just weird to say and makes no sense. Likewise, it would be wrong to say "Orfgyu" if the subject is actually heading AWAY from the speaker and/or recipient.
Here are some locations you may use:
/Zdes/
Here
/Zdæs/
There
/Tosa/
Village
/Toz/
Town
/Taza/
City
/Markat/
Store, Shop, Market
And finally a few more words that may be useful:
/Kes/
This (is), These (are)
/Kez/
That (is), Those (are)
/Gyufbuo/
Remove, Rid, Get rid of
/Gyufbua/
Quickly remove, Quickly rid of, Quickly get rid of
/Eke yoshike èz?/
"Where are you from?"
