About me
I'm a machine learning engineer with experience in both deep learning and full-stack engineering. I take immense pleasure in building complex user-facing systems. I adapt quickly to new tools and languages, and thrive in collaborative environments. I'm also passionate about teaching, especially programming and computer science.

The program teaches students about the mathematics and algorithms fundamental to the computer science field. This five-week intensive course is one of very few with a theoretical and proof-based emphasis.
As a Group 2 participant in this program, I attended a 5 week graduate level course on Randomized Algorithms. Notable guest lecturers were Prof. David Williamson from Cornell University, Prof. Sanjeev Khanna from the University of Pennsylvania, and Prof. David Woodruff from Carnegie Mellon University.
Was also responsible for
mentoring Main Group students
grading their homework
creating difficult and challenging exam problems.
AddisCoder is a free intensive 4-week summer program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia introducing high schoolers to programming and algorithms.
I was responsible for
Assisting during lab sessions.
Creating notes and exam questions
Grading exams
Projects
Built a deep learning model that is capable of transcribing a speech to text in the Amharic language. The model had Convolutional, DNN, and LSTM layers an used the CTC loss as its loss function.
Analyzed the customer information of a mobile service provider company. Provided a report to analyze opportunities for growth and made a recommendation on whether the company is worth buying or selling. Performed Univariate and Mutivariate analysis, and KMeans clustering.
The finance team of a pharmaceutical chain that has 1115 stores wants to forecast sales in all their 1115 stores across several cities six weeks ahead of time. Used Linear Regression, Random Forest Regression, and LSTM Regression to build an end-to-end product that delivers this prediction to analysts in the finance team.
Using A/B testing to test if the ads that the advertising company ran resulted in a significant lift in brand awareness. Comparing machine learning models vs A/B testing gave me insights on what to use in which particular problem.
